Job description
A Casting Operator is responsible for all details pertaining to the production of extruded hollow fiber membranes for use in bio-separation filters. The operator must be able to tear down and set up an entire casting line as well as troubleshoot the casting process. The operator will also be responsible for inspecting hollow fiber membranes dimensionally and functionally, maintaining the casting equipment, and providing feedback to support staff. The operator also works as a team member in whatever capacity and job function is required to deliver a quality product to our customers in a timely fashion.
Work Schedule: 3rd shift, 9:00pm - 5:30am, Thursday - Monday.
- Setup/breakdown casting machine and maintain casting tooling.
- Manufacture fiber membrane to specified dimensions and tolerances.
- Responsible for accurately completing and processing all documents necessary for tracking extrusion operations, including databases.
- Perform preventive maintenance according to Standard Operating Procedures
- Participates in all line changeovers.
- Aid in performing Installation Qualifications, Process Qualifications, and other validation activities as required by Engineering.
- Maintain consumable stock (i.e., bags, labels, tapes, and other casting-specific items)
- Communicate all pertinent information at shift change and advise the direct Supervisor of any problems.
- Comply with applicable FDA and international regulatory laws/standards and the Spectrum Labs Code of Conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned or required by Mfg. Leads/Supervisors.
- Other duties may be assigned.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- year of fiber extrusion-related experience.
- Knowledge of 5S techniques and Lean Manufacturing Skills is a plus.
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, feel, and talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include Peripheral vision and Depth perception.
