General Summary
The primary duty of the Assistant Teacher is teaching students according to the established educational curriculum of LeafSpring School. Assists with the oversight of curriculum, materials, management and general supervision of an assigned group. Responsible for assisting in the daily supervision and management of a group of four to ten children, between the ages of birth and five. Implements curriculum and assists in the general supervision of an assigned group.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervision Responsibility
- Assists Lead Teachers in the implementation and supervision of the daily classroom program in accordance with the philosophy of LeafSpring School.
- Directs the activities of volunteers, providing guidance as needed.
- Classroom Responsibilities
- Incorporates principles of age appropriate child growth and development and developmentally appropriate practice in daily lesson plans.
- Assists in evaluating the quality of classroom performance and provides guidance as needed.
- Designs the classroom curriculum to meet the needs of each child's interests, challenges, special talents, individual style and pace of learning.
- Maintains awareness of each child’s health status.
- Demonstrates correct principles of infection control incorporating universal precautions and OSHA requirements.
- Maintains a safe, orderly, attractive and clean learning environment.
- Assists in the completion of the classroom self assessment in preparation for the Brand Compliance Review, and additionally as requested.
- Maintains ongoing developmental evaluation of children.
- Demonstrates 100% accountability of all children at all times and follows all accountability systems.
- Encourages and demonstrates sound health and nutritional practices.
- Maintains compliance with regulatory, accreditation and LeafSpring School standards.
- Communication Responsibilities
- Exhibits exemplary customer service skills at all times and consistently upholds our brand promise to create an amazing customer focused experience.
- Establishes open, positive communication and engagement with all children.
- Establishes open, ongoing communication with the parents, keeping them well informed of the activities/needs of their child.
- Promotes and supports school events.
- Welcomes and communicates with visitors to the classroom appropriately, e.g., prospective families, regulatory agents, alternate pick-ups, student interns.
- Keeps Administrative Team well informed of any untoward events and/or concerns including but not limited to issues regarding the care of children in the program.
- Communicates all injuries/incidents.
- Endorses and promotes Get Well Place services to parents and prospective clients.
- Serves as a liaison for assigned classroom as needed, communicating information as necessary between administration and other faculty/staff in the program.
- Assists in the collection of parent surveys, as requested.
- Assists in orienting parents and children to the classroom.
- Participates in carrying out an effective classroom communication system
- Participates in established system for orientation of substitute teachers.

- Maintains positive relationships with enrolled children and families, all faculty and staff, LeafSpring School franchise locations, the local ECE community and the greater community
- Participates in special projects at the request of the Administrative Team.

- Assists with public relations events (social, parent, special interest) sponsored by LeafSpring School.

- Performs other duties as assigned (i.e. site goal responsibilities, designated assignments).
- Fiscal Responsibilities
- Facilitates enrollment with excellent tour interactions, successful transition of new students and ongoing customer service for parents/children.
- Assists with implementation of cost effective classroom management within budgetary guidelines
- Shows ownership of maintaining campus appearance, e.g. keeping shared areas and playground clean and clutter free, picking up trash (inside and outside), etc.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be 18 years of age. For certain positions, must have a clean driving record, be over the age of 21 and have held a valid driver's license for at least 5 years. Subject to check of driving record.
- Must possess a love for children and an ability to relate well with them, their families, and teachers.
- No experience needed
- Must have technology competency as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
- Must be CPR and First Aid certified or obtain certification within six months of employment.
- High school diploma required
- Must be able to pass background check
- Preferred – some college or associates degree
- Preferred - at least one (1) year of experience, preferably in a NAEYC or Cognia accredited program.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Must be English proficient and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Positive attitude and strong work ethic - must be a team player!
- Willingness to work flexible schedule between the hours of 6:30am - 6:30pm
Work Environment
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, kneel, sit, walk, run short distances, stand, reach above head, move up and down from floor to lift children.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of up to 50 lbs.
- Must have color/depth perception and fine hand & finger movements.
- Necessary traits for this position are: Seeing, Hearing, Talking, Reading and Writing.
- Must have the ability to positively interact with co-workers, parents, children, vendors and other visitors.
- Working conditions may include exposure to loud noises, odors, fumes from paint, art materials or other sources, temperature variations from either working inside or outside.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $19.00 per hour
