    NOTICE OF POSITION OPENING
    COLLEGE AND CAREER STUDENT SPECIALIST

    Eden Prairie School District is seeking applicants to serve as the College and Career Student Specialist. The College & Career Student Specialist will provide support to students and their families in the development of a college/career-focused post-secondary plan. The specialist will learn about students’ desired career paths and will partner with students and families to maximize high school and post-secondary experiences aimed at preparation for post-secondary success. The specialist will develop relationships with students and families and serve as a liaison in supporting students with completion of tasks required for entry into their next career pathway or postsecondary institutions.

    Eden Prairie is a school district with 1,500 employees serving approximately 9,000 students. The district is recognized for its quality initiatives and its leadership in educational programming.

    Position Requirements:
    • BA or BS Degree required.
    • Master’s degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or related field preferred, but not required.
    Experience :
    • Experience working with culturally, linguistically economically diverse students, as well as students with varying abilities.
    • Possess training and experience in the areas of adolescent development including personal/social issue, behavior, educational development and career development.
    • Experience in career, academic, personal and/or financial aid counseling
    • Minimum of one year relevant experience working with economically limited, first generation students and other historically underserved students

    Qualifications :
    • Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the area of academic advising, transfer advising, financial aid information, scholarship information, financial literacy and other academic advising and referral services to career and college ready individuals.
    • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in equity and culturally competent practices
    • Demonstrate knowledge of issues related to academically at-risk students, especially those who are first generation college bound, socioeconomic disadvantaged, learner ability, and linguistic groups within the school community
    • Demonstrated strength in organization, professional oral and written communication and facilitation skills, interpersonal skills, and efficiency
    • Demonstrated ability to function as a positive collaborative leader and member of a team
    • Demonstrated interest and engagement in professional learning and reflection
    • Willingness to work flexible hours during the school year

    Benefit Overview:
    Salary Range:
    EPSS Level III - 60,086/year based on 190 days. This position will work 185 days/year

    Start Date:
    August 28, 2023

    Holidays
    5 paid holidays/year + 3 floating holidays/year

    Life insurance fully paid by the employer for an amount equal to twice the employee’s annual salary

    Long Term Disability Insurance
    Long term disability fully paid by the employer.

    Medical/Hospitalization:
    Medical/hospitalization insurance with low premiums for single coverage; generous contributions provided by the employer towards family coverage premium.

    Dental Insurance
    Dental insurance is fully paid by the employer for single or family coverage.

    Sick Leave
    9 days per year cumulative to 254 days

    Tax Sheltered Annuity Matching Program
    District TSA match up to 2.25% of employee’s base salary.

    Tuition Reimbursement
    50% tuition for up to 3 credits per academic session for pre-approved coursework
