About the role
You will be an integral part of roof management systems with direct accountability for maintaining the integrity of the existing commercial roofing systems as well as overall roof and ladder safety for campus locations and approximately eighteen buildings for our client.
Supervise all performed work or presence on commercial roofs to ensure the other vendors and contractors are operating safely. You will own the roof and ladder safety program initiatives and ensure EHS compliance for our client’s two campus locations in the East Hartford, CT area.
Ability to work outdoors, comfortability with heights and experience with all types of commercial roofs is vital to be successful in this role.
This is not a remote position; the selected candidate should be available to be onsite fulltime.
What you’ll do
- Inspect and monitor various types of commercial roofing systems to resolve any potential safety related issues and or risks on site. May work with leadership to craft solutions to mitigate the exposure to any identified risks.
- Train and qualify others regarding the client’s specific safety protocols, practices and policies for assigned campuses.
- Supervise all work performed on various types of commercial roofing systems while ensuring all vendors, service providers and contractors are operating safely and ensuring they have proper safety requirements and training in place.
- Perform daily roof walks at two local campus locations to inspect for any potential safety related issues or risks on site. May assist with removal of foreign or organic debris, and various types of maintenance and repairs.
- Monitor roof systems during inclement weather and set up contractors for warranted roof projects.
- Complete regular Job Safety Analysis (JSA) reports for all buildings on both campuses and review JSA’s of others to confirm they have them.
- May develop and implement new safety related policies and make updates to existing standards.
- Identify, organize and maintain records of all safety related trainings to internal and external employees, vendors, service providers and contractors.
- Ensure the clear communication of the site specific EHS vision, mission and goals to internal and external partners and providers.

What you’ll need
- Proven experience in one or more of the following: commercial roofing, specialty trade or comparable environment and Ladder, roof or commercial construction safety.
- Experience managing safety program.
- Must have the ability and willingness to work outdoors at elevated heights in all weather conditions. Prior field-based experience is needed, prior experience with commercial roofing systems highly preferred.
- Experience operating various powered industrial equipment is helpful.
- First Aid, CPR, OSHA, CHST and CSP qualifications
- Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), CMMS
