General Description - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works with the communications director to develop and execute an internal and external communications strategy.
  • Writes, edits, and coordinates the distribution of information to market, promote and increase

the visibility of initiatives and accomplishments.

  • Determines and updates website and social media content.
  • Coordinates and issues routine press releases and advisories to the Mayor’s Office of Communications and/or the media.
  • Plans and creates content/messaging and materials for virtual or in-person town halls, speaking engagements, and public engagement events.
  • Manages internal and external communications to project a positive image.
  • May work independently or with other team members with responsibility for the completion of assigned tasks.
  • Leverage analytics and reports to determine the effectiveness and seek continual improvement of communications and marketing initiatives.
  • Edits content, assembles photographs and assists in the coordination of preparing presentations for community partners, stakeholders, and Atlanta City Council.
  • Performs videotaping and photographic functions as assigned.
  • May have leadwork responsibilities.
  • Leadership: Serves as a technical resource or mentor to other employees.

Uses independent judgment in routine and non-routine situations.

  • Skill in communicating effectively with leadership, media representatives, and other staff members.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, English, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of progressive and related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts degree in communications, English, marketing, or related field.
  • 5-8 years of progressive and related experience.

Licensures and Certifications:

None required.
