Base Location: Flexible across North Kerry & West Limerick
Salary: €39,600 - €59,400 depending on skills and experience + performance-related bonus + a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing
Working Pattern: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract | Full Time | Flexible Working options available
What is the role?
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and energetic Community Liaison Officer, who will work as part of our Stakeholder Engagement team to enhance the value and protect the reputation of the SSE Thermal business through effective engagement with the stakeholders and communities surrounding our key assets. You will lead on external engagements throughout the life of our projects, building up a network of key contacts including local communities, stakeholders and businesses.
As Community Liaison Officer, you will work as part of a wider Corporate Affairs team, which is responsible for Policy, Advocacy, Communications and Stakeholder Management, relating to the business's commercial strategy. This role will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience across the full project lifecycle, through development, construction and operation. Our Community Liaison team serves our existing sites, and the cutting-edge low carbon facilities we are developing.
Key responsibilities for the role will include:
- Identifying, understanding and building relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders linked to SSE Thermal's major projects and assets.
- Developing and delivering integrated communications, public affairs, public relations and stakeholder management plans for SSE Thermal's operational, development and construction sites.
- Identifying issues, opportunities and challenges linked to the delivery of SSE Thermal's objectives and respond to these in a timely and effective manner.
- Planning, organising, implementing and documenting consultation activities linked to the development of large-scale and flagship projects being developed by SSE Thermal, this includes undertaking statutory consultation and engagement activities linked to the planning and consenting process.
- Managing relationships with our counterparts within partner organisations to ensure a co-ordinated approach to communications and stakeholder engagement.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- First class communication and interpersonal skills, to build and maintain relationships.
- Experience of building and managing stakeholder relationships.
- An understanding of project developments within communities and the role of stakeholder management.
- The ability to deliver high quality, accurate work and respond quickly to changing requirements and priorities.
- A broad understanding of the energy sector and SSE Thermal's role within it is desirable.

The Community Liaison Officer will be part of the SSE Thermal Corporate Affairs team, which encompasses Communications, Policy, and Stakeholder Engagement.
In Corporate Affairs our people work collaboratively externally and internally to advise, influence, and communicate in order to help SSE's businesses succeed and contribute to our vision to be a leading energy company in a net zero world.
