Viera Builders, Inc. a wholly-owned subsidiary of A. Duda & Sons, Inc is seeking a full-time, hourly-paid Construction Estimator to assume responsibility for producing & maintaining budgets for new home construction. The ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge & understanding of construction. Qualified individuals will be confident, driven, self-starters who enjoy be challenged and thrive in a fast paced environment.
Other functions will include:
- Prepares and creates construction budgets for home builds by reviewing home plans; updating specifications
- Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
- Conduct Purchase order management; releasing P.O.’s timely and efficiently; assisting trade partners inquiries; reviewing and approving variance purchase orders requests from trade partners as needed
- Obtain bids from vendors and subcontractors by specifying materials; identifying qualified subcontractors; negotiating pricing
- Establish and maintain relationships with engineers, architects, contractors and subcontractors
- Maintain cost keys and price masters by routinely updating information
- Generate quantity and/or material take offs for a variety of scope of works
- Periodically performs field reviews to analyze material usage and budgeted quantities
- Facilitates problem-solving, with a curious mind and critical thinking skills, showing a high degree of creative application in the implementation of data-driven curriculum and practice
- Maintains professional appearance and quality service by following organizational standards
Essential Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction/purchasing or Four (4) or more years of experience in a new home construction performing estimating, purchasing activities, and project management
- One (1) or more years of experience in blue print reading with ability to perform basic measurement take-offs
- Intermediate Excel User – read and write functions (VLOOKUP (), AND (), OR (), Pivot Tables, Name Manager, Conditional Formatting, etc.)
- Organizational Skills; Ability to multi-task; Detail oriented
- Strong math skills including basic arithmetic, algebra and geometry
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in construction/purchasing
- AutoCad and AutoDesk DWF familiarity
- Microsoft Office (Intermediate Level)
