Since 2011, Chess at Three has provided New York City schools and families with top-tier educational and enrichment experiences for ages three and up. We teach tricky subjects like chess and music through fun, engaging stories that allow even the youngest students to discover core concepts alongside silly, memorable characters. Each story-based lesson hinges on an interactive "aha" moment, a method that has revolutionized the way difficult subjects are taught and empowered everyone, regardless of experience, to pass along vital life skills to early childhood learners.

You'd be joining Chess at Three's full-time creative team at a very exciting moment. We are currently growing rapidly outside of our home market in New York City and into new media formats. We're also expanding our educational content beyond chess and music into subjects like backgammon, Go, role-playing games, puzzle cubing, financial literacy, nutrition and wellness, and more.

Responsibilities

  • Proof and copyedit curriculum materials, video scripts, marketing content, and more - Perform quality assurance checks on in-process video content
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of existing IP
  • Fact checking to ensure game instructions are consistent with game rules - Collaborate with the Creative Director, Editor-in-Chief, and other creative team members to ideate and develop new educational properties for global distribution

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional editing experience
  • Exceptional command of English grammar, spelling, and usage conventions - Experience with industry style guides and the ability to adapt to TCL's house style - Experience writing or editing fiction, playscripts, and/or screenplays is a plus - Deadline-driven mentality and outstanding time management skills
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency with a range of word processors - Experience using Adobe InDesign is preferred but not required
  • Sense of humor and a broad awareness of children's media
  • Growth mindset and a willingness to learn on the job

The successful applicant will have a strong background in proofreading, copyediting, and written content creation. Experience in editing children's fiction, screenplays, and new and traditional media marketing is a huge plus.

Salary Range

$60,000—$75,000 USD
