Amach Software is looking for a Delivery Manager - Agile Release Train (ART) who will manage the delivery of the ARTs according to the agreed schedule, guidelines and principles of the ART.
Key to success in this role will be collaboration, tooling, risk management and stakeholder communication, alongside adhering to release management quality criteria and best practices.
Required Skills:

  • Relevant 3rd level qualification with a strong technical focus
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience of working with IT Software Development Lifecycle methodologies including Waterfall & Agile
  • Possess at least 10+ years of professional experience, with a minimum of 8 years in project or programme management
  • Experience in working with third party suppliers in the delivery of business or IT change initiatives – including experience of working with remote and co-located teams and vendors
  • Advanced level of proficiency in use of Microsoft Office suite, including Project, Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience of implementing infrastructure and/or Database and software projects with significant budgets
  • Experience leading projects based on legacy technologies in an organisation
  • A strong understanding of best practises, tools and techniques for project management and programme management with ability to continuously improve these processes
  • Ability to understand the technical goals\deliverables and their corresponding business value
  • Ability to understand the technical challenges and be able to communicate them to a technical and a non-technical audience
  • A strong sense of ownership for project deliveries
  • Acute understanding and ability to demonstrate expertise in Quality Management, Project Planning, Risk & Change management
  • Excellent communication skills, with a strong ability to effectively communicate both internally and externally at levels up to Director and C Suite, and ability to make complex technology problem simple to the business. Must be capable of understanding and communicating the "big picture"
  • Strong negotiation skills with proven ability to maintain relationships with stakeholders and to influence stakeholders in support of project delivery
  • Robust relationship management, capable of working with all levels within the organisation by building effective relationships
  • An effective team manager with proven ability to build, motivate and support a high performing team
  • Highly motivated, driven, pragmatic and completely focused on project delivery for business benefit
  • Ability to fulfil the servant leader role and recognise future blockers\risk and be able to navigate around them
  • Strong listening, analytical, problem solving and, with close attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate conflict resolution skills – driving resolution of any project conflict
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken

Desirable skills:

  • PMI/Prince 2 certification or similar PM accreditation
  • A technical background is preferred
  • Knowledge of IT and Digital systems, including experience of leading significant projects involving infrastructure, applications, and cloud-based technologies
  • Good understanding of the technical architecture underpinning the IT service landscape in e-Commerce, Online Media or Information Technology & Services environments

Key responsibilities & duties include:

  • Work with the ART Engineer to identify candidate User Stories and release candidates for each ART
  • Ensure transparency and visibility of plans and checkpoints, utilising appropriate communication channels
  • Ensure that the published ART release cadence is achieved
  • Carry out regular retrospectives and ensure continuous improvements in processes and publish these for visibility and transparency
  • For each ART, publish the release plan and co-ordinate all cross-team collaboration and planning sessions to ensure successful delivery
  • Escalate any essential resource gaps that risk the delivery of the ART, including required external support
  • Support the teams and Delivery Managers in estimating costs and timelines related to the ARTs and track costs
  • Where necessary coach DMs, teams and Scrum Masters in ART practices and mindset to ensure successful ART Release planning and execution
  • Help manage risks and cross-team dependencies in preparing to release an ART release
  • Ensure appropriate communications around changes, scope, issues and risks
  • Understand an operate the agreed cost/time tracking models
  • Monitor scope of each ART for consistency and adherence to any agreed ''themes''
  • Update agreed processes and implement improvements
  • Release Management activities – CAB Process, Deployment Tickets, draft plan generation, communications to 'external' teams and stakeholders
  • Facilitate the Release Readiness call
  • Manage the Release on the day
