General Purpose and Scope of Position:
As part of the sales management team, the Director of Sales for the Western South will provide direct support to our business, providing guidance and leadership to sales management on customer strategies, customer segmentation, business growth, and mentoring to the field sales staff. The Sales Director works with assigned sales management to identify customer needs and develop solutions utilizing all available resources with sales management, support groups, and subject matter experts. The Director of Sales must build and maintain a strong relationship with the key stakeholders and accounts to foster an environment of business growth based on providing services and solutions unavailable from or superior to the offerings of other sources. The Director of Sales must be able to operate efficiently and effectively in a cross-functional organization structure where cooperation with other teams is essential to meeting the goal of improved Customer Centricity and Operational Effectiveness.
Key Skills and Abilities Include:
- Minimum of 15 years' experience in the agricultural industry.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience managing a team
- Demonstrated experience growing top-line sales while improving margin and profitability
- Ability to develop and deliver on key strategies that contribute to the improved ROI of customers and Wilbur-Ellis Company.
- Demonstrated experience in day-to-day agronomy operations.
- Expertise in cultural and production practices of key crops in assigned areas.
- Broad understanding of business issues, metrics, organizational linkages, and delivering customer value.
- Strategic planning ability including product positioning and competitive analyses, customer segmentation, and market penetration.
- Ability to quantify, track, and benchmark market risks.
- Develop and foster a teamwork environment.

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:
- Will oversee all retail, wholesale, and Alliance businesses in Western South.
- Provides leadership and guidance to assigned District Sales Managers with a focus on business strategy, growth, customer acquisition, and retention.
- Collaborate with branded products, marketing, supplier relations, procurement, and other subject matter experts to identify future product/market opportunities.
- Identifies customer needs and challenges as a basis for business plan development.
- Works with managers to continuously reevaluate their strategic business plans.
- Lead and implement Company and Ag Division initiatives including alignment of processes and systems.
- In cooperation with management and People and Culture, assist in the planning, hiring, mentoring, and development of sales team and associated support personnel following approved processes and procedures.
- Work with Talent Development Manager on recruiting and acquisition of talent to meet growth and succession planning needs.
- Participate in all sales management team meetings.
- Ability to deliver on financial goals.
Compensation and Benefits
- In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $158,900 - $233,000. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
