Description: We are looking for a Domestic Violence Women's Shelter Manager to work in our Community Health Center in Shiprock, NM. Our organization is a dynamic place to work, practice, and grow. We have 4 primary care health centers and deliver integrated services including behavioral health, Pharmacy, Dental, specialty referrals, chronic disease management, health education, and much, much more.

Critical Tasks

1. Ensure the 24/7 hour shelter services and all programs are sufficiently staffed, providing coverage for direct service staff and volunteers in emergency situations and special circumstances.

2. Develop and support professional development opportunities that will help further the knowledge and skills of direct service staff while enhancing programs and services.

3. Provides ongoing staff development and training; schedules staff for required training; conducts regular staff meetings.

4. Responsible for managing the day to day operations and staff of UNHS’ 24/7 emergency shelter, and community based programs.

5. Responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing best practice models for UNHS’ shelter, for managing all aspects of contract compliance; and for overseeing the services provided to the DV Women’s Shelter.

6. Ensure services are delivered to UNHS’ participants in a consistent, participant-centered, trauma-informed, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner.

7. Keep shelter pantry sufficiently stocked with necessary food and material items for infants, children and adults; Prepare quarterly food order from contracted vendors.

8. Remain current on Domestic Violence best practices and the resources available for safe house residents, make sure to keep clients well informed.

9. Provide support and counseling to the clients within our Domestic Violence safe house.

10. Maintain confidentiality of clients and client’s records.

11. Responsible for the recruitment/retention of staff; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and makes salary and hiring/firing recommendations.

12. Build and maintain community relationships on behalf of the site[HCJ1] .

13. Coordinate and attend regular shelter staff meetings and weekly house meetings for shelter residents.

14. Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of shelter building and grounds. Oversees to the essential internal/external maintenance and security of shelter.

15. Oversee the procurement of office supplies, paper products and materials and any specialty items for that are need for the shelter participants.

16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. Schedule and perform frequent meetings with staff to determine the needs and/or wants of the safe house participants.

2. Perform sufficient and adequate feedback to staff and safe house participants. Listen to concerns and work with other UNHS Departments to address concerns.

3. Perform annual performance management evaluations for staff. Provide positive feedback and immediately address performance issues.

4. Routinely review safety and emergency protocols and policies and effectively communicate to staff and residents of any new policies and procedures.

5. Perform review and monitoring of all end of the month reports and statistics as required; prepares statistical and other routine reports on a regular basis; ensures accuracy of the same.

6. Plans, prepares for, and coordinates program audits; serves as the contact person for the program during audits, responds to audit questions, and formulates corrective actions necessary in response to audits.

7. Provides leadership in the community and conducts speaking engagements to promote and answer questions about the program services; conducts tours of the facility.

8. Knowledge of the principles and practices of social service program development and administration.

9. Knowledge of the principles and practices of personnel and business management and supervision.

10. Ability to motivate, lead, supervise and evaluate subordinate personnel.

11. Ability to perform public speaking.

12. Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during state of crisis.

Experience, Training, and Qualifications needed to perform the job:

1. Minimum 2 years direct service experience in crisis program management, domestic violence program, in a social service setting or similar environment;

2. Minimum of 2 years demonstrated success with program management and staff supervision;

3. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Service Counseling or related field.

• COVID-19 vaccine
• Any other vaccinations as requested.
