Position Function
Manages electronic research administration (eRA) systems and databases, including providing data reports on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, as well as ad hoc reports as requested; responsible for integrity and accuracy of data in eRA systems for required reporting to both external stakeholders and partners within the institution; maintains high levels of knowledge and expertise on current systems of record (e.g., Cayuse Research Suite) for all offices within the Office of Research, including Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA) and the Office of Research Integrity (ORI); trains stakeholders within both the unit and the University on systems interface as needed.

Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum Experience
At least one year of experience in working with data in database formats; experience in the creation, maintenance, and tracking of electronic filing systems; experience in data organization and interpretation; technical knowledge of spreadsheets, including use of formulas and tables.

Minimum Other
Excellent technological skills; able to confidently interact with and complete tasks using computer-based technologies; proficient mathematical and computer skills; experience using Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel; able to produce detailed, accurate work within time constraints.

Authorization to work in the US
Candidates for searches must have current authorization to be employed in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree in a social science, science, statistics, research-based, computer science, or related field

Preferred Experience
Higher education experience; experience working with electronic research administration systems and their administrative platforms; experience with designing and implementing quantitative and qualitative research projects and disseminating the results to non-technical audiences, including visualization (tables and graphics); experience safeguarding data and maintaining confidentiality.

Preferred Other
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and time management skills; experience using Cayuse Research Suite; demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion; demonstrated skills working across different disciplines and/or offices; ability to multi-task well under pressure, simultaneously handling a variety of projects and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines; ability to operate independently as well as part of a team; excellent problem-solving skills.

Create, develop and maintain policies and procedures regarding data sharing, data integrity and records retention. Develop, maintain and deliver training for data sharing, data integrity and records retention.

Analyze, prepare and organize data across the Office of Research for standard monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting; accurately curate and prepare data for key institutional required reporting appropriate for university units and for public dissemination, work with various areas throughout the university (for example, Controller, Academic Systems, Institutional Research and Decision Support) in fulfilling institutional and federal data requests. Examples of reports include external and internal activity as related to sponsored projects records, approved research protocols, and conflict of interest/conflict of commitment (COI/COC) disclosures, etc.

Manage (eRA) systems and databases and serve as data management liaison and administrator between SPA and ORI. Support decision-making and software implementation as needed in the electronic management of the office systems and assist in updating systems as required.

Facilitate information exchange between SPA, ORI, and external unit stakeholders (e.g., Office of Institutional Research and Decision Support (IRDS), Information Technology (IT), Office of General Counsel (OGC), Controller’s Office, Office of the Vice Provost for Academic Affairs (VPAA) and academic colleges) for institutional data systems feeds between Cayuse and other systems, such as Watermark Faculty Success. Represent the Office of Research on various University technology committees.

Create Cayuse proposal and award records and update statuses in appropriate systems, maintain Cayuse administrative structure and user profiles. Document and track reporting deadlines for funded sponsored projects.
