Overview:

Works with design engineers in design, development and Production support activities. Under the direction of and in participation with engineers, technicians build and test breadboard and prototype circuits. They also collect, organize and evaluate test data, and research, select and evaluate components for use in designs. When necessary, Engineering Technicians are called upon to provide hands-on support of production test and troubleshooting on highly complex electronic products. All activities require a working knowledge of basic electronic and electrical theory, test equipment, measurement techniques and electronic circuit analysis.

Performs the set-up, calibration, testing and troubleshooting of circuits, components, test equipment and mechanical assemblies. Determines and may develop test specifications, methods and procedures from blueprints, drawings and diagrams. May complete rework on assemblies and/or systems as determined by test results. Prepares technical reports and summarizes findings. May assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment. This is an on-site position.
Responsibilities:

Under the direction of and in participation with engineers:

  • Build and test breadboard and prototype circuits.
  • Collect, organize and evaluate test data.
  • Select and evaluate components. Assist in the procurement of components when necessary.
  • Help organize and maintain Engineering lab supplies and equipment, and with general housekeeping of the lab.
  • Assist Production test and troubleshooting when necessary.
  • Write new technical procedures or recommend changes to existing procedures and specifications as needs arise.
  • Work from and help to produce a variety of technical documents including test specifications, wiring diagrams, schematics, etc., where complete information is frequently lacking or from general oral engineering instructions requiring technical judgment, initiative and experience.
  • Instructs and gives technical direction to lesser-classified technicians.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in Electronic or Computer Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited college.
  • Working knowledge of basic electrical and electronic theory for AC, DC, semiconductor and digital/logic circuits.
  • One (1) years’ experience as a Test Technician in a manufacturing environment or in the military, or letters of recommendation from two college professors of Engineering Technology subjects.
  • Ability to use oscilloscopes and multimeters to make basic circuit measurements.
  • Ability to read and follow schematic diagrams, assembly drawings, and parts lists.
  • Ability to identify standard electronic components and devices.
  • Ability to research and interpret manufacturer’s data from component data sheets and related publications.
  • Ability to conduct basic analysis of analog and digital circuits.
  • Ability to solder using basic soldering equipment.
  • Working knowledge and ability with basic hand and power tools and their uses.
  • Ability to build test fixtures and assemble mechanical hardware using basic hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office programs Word, Excel, and Powerpoint

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (in addition to Minimum):

  • Experience in defense or aerospace industry
  • Two (2) years’ experience as an Electronic Technician in a manufacturing environment or in the military.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting various electronic circuits, including analog, digital, and RF technologies.
  • Ability to use a Spectrum Analyzer and Vector Network Analyzer.
  • Experience with Environmental Testing (thermal and vibration in particular).
  • Working knowledge of LabView programming.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $61,800 - $72,000 annually. Applicable pay within the posted range may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographical location, job function of the position, education, and experience of the successful candidate.
