Product Integrity Engineer/Analyst

The Product Integrity department manages the safety and compliance of products being sold or distributed with Disney brands, characters and other intellectual property. Our corporate Product Integrity group is staffed with experienced engineers and safety professionals around the world verifying product compliance.

What You’ll Do

The Engineer/Analyst, Product Integrity will support product compliance activities for global vertical retail. We are looking for entry level that has engineering judgement and decision making under the supervision and leadership of the manager. Knowledge of regulatory requirements of multiple countries is a plus.

Product Development Support: 50%

  • Perform design safety reviews for assigned leveled products
  • Perform compliance product review for all assigned business units
  • Review Product packaging and labeling for language content/safety and regulatory issues
  • Provide disposition of testing reports and communicate same to affected parties clearly and in a timely manner
  • Communicate with testing laboratories and suppliers to ensure clarity of test requirements and appropriate testing is performed
  • Track incident data trends in Guest complaints
  • Resolve product issues with Vendors

Business Partnerships: 50%

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with assigned Disney Sourcing partners worldwide, to ensure safe products are delivered within cost and on time
  • Act as a technical resource and safety consultant to Disney Sourcing, Brand Merchandising, Central Creative, and suppliers regarding appropriate statutory, regulatory, and Disney product safety requirements for specific types of merchandise
  • Work with internal Guest Relations team to investigate and resolve Guest incidents for product within assigned categories

What You’ll Need (Requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering or Technology. (Mechanical, Electrical, Textiles, Physics, Microbiology, Chemical, Manufacturing, Materials, Industrial, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
  • Successful candidates will have 3 or more years of consumer product compliance experience.
  • 2-5 years relevant experience in consumer products compliance preferred
  • Should have recent experience working in a consumer product company with a variety of consumer product categories distributed into multiple global regions and can speak to the requirements in each country/region including packaging and labeling
  • Critical thinking skills and ability
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; excellent presentation and group dynamics skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Proficient with Power Point, Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Technical knowledge of international consumer product rules and regulations
  • Technical knowledge of basic manufacturing processes and how various product types are made

The hiring range for this position in California is $77,000 to $103,000 per year based on a 40-hour work week. The amount of hours scheduled per week may vary based on business needs. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
