Engineering - Lab Technician I

Location: Minneapolis Minnesota
· A Bachelor degree in electrical engineering is required.
· One or more years’ experience in medical device product development or equivalent is required.
· Solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and proven hands-on electronic/mechanical skills.
· One or more years’ demonstrated experience and expertise with product testing, test equipment, analysis methodologies and test documentation is preferred.
· Familiarity with standard test equipment such as Intron, imaging scopes, and force gauges, data loggers, and CMM is preferred.
· One or more years’ experience in designing fixture, preferable in CREO, is a plus.
· Experience in testing electro-mechanical systems is a plus.
· This position supports the development of RCS peritoneal dialysis in home system from concept to production. Your expertise with LabVIEW, prototyping, debugging, test system build and support will be critical to your success in this role. This is a hands-on dynamic role that allows for exposure to a broad range of activities. The position requires an individual to be self-motivated, good with time management, and able to work in a high-paced environment.
· Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
· Develop, updates, and maintains National Instruments LabVIEW test software.
· Create and maintain production prints, assembly instructions, bills of material, and other documentation related to develop of benches.
· Experienced with electrical chassis design and wiring.
· Familiar and knowledgeable with calibration procedures, processes, electronic test equipment (ie. DMM, Oscilloscope, Signal generators).
· Providing technical support/skills for equipment troubleshooting and controls/equipment modifications.
· Knowledge and experience with flow sensors, pressure sensors, Mettler-Toledo Equipment, fluid pumps, close loop control systems and data acquisition equipment.
· Good solder skills and practices both leaded and surface mount.
· Basic hand tools skills (IE. Drills and Drill Presses, Band Saws, Connector Crimpers, Wire Strippers).
· Solid understanding of PC’s and Communications protocols.
· MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook and other office tools.
LABVIEW programming skills
· Using various tools to test/modify designs (Oscilloscopes, DMM's, Power Supplies, soldering irons, etc.)
· Integration skill/integrate electronics, firmware, and mechanical designs into final product
· Embedded systems & some programming skill
· Communication with cross-functional team and presentation skills
· Creative Problem Solving
· Component level troubleshooting & root cause analysis skill
· Basic knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems & circuit
· Automated testing and data collection in the Lab VIEW environment.
· Schematic diagram design/preparation for prototype & interpretation skill
