BASIC FUNCTION
The Environmental Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleaning and sanitation operations of the Oakwood Village campus and the environmental services team.
This position is accountable to the Campus Director of Facilities and Property Management.

- Provides leadership for the environmental services team to ensure that work techniques, quality standards, departmental policies and procedures, and job specifications are followed.
- Orders, organizes and maintains department supplies.
- Develops and manages an effective scheduling process and program to ensure residents have clearly defined and communicated cleaning schedules, as well as ensuring appropriate cleaning schedules of common areas on the campus.
- Supervises daily operations of the department and directs staff of 15-25 staff members. Duties include screening applicants, hiring and training new staff members, motivation, time management, and any coaching or corrective action necessary for improvement. Establishes and is accountable for department goals and objectives.
- Encourages positive team relations among staff and facilitates and streamlining of services when appropriate, including leadership and facilitation of regular team meetings.
- Assists with the selection and coor.dinates and monitors applicable contracted services.
- Oversees administration of environmental training programs, customer/resident relations, and support of the budget administration.
- Develops, submits, and monitors the annual department budget to ensure proper utilization of resources. Evaluates new products while adhering to purchasing guidelines and budget parameters.
- Develops and implements efficient and productive cleaning methods in compliance with all applicable standards and regulations.
- Identifies and implements best practices to generate new and innovative ideas for the department to improve services and reduce costs.
- Develops written departmental policies, standards, procedures, and corresponding forms as necessary.
- Ensures attractive appearance of the independent, assisted, and skilled nursing facilities’ building interiors and ensuring the readiness of apartment homes and resident rooms for occupancy by new residents.
- Ensures the effective and efficient use of housekeeping and laundry equipment and maintains an appropriate inventory of housekeeping and laundry supplies.
- Executes timely responses to resident ideas, concerns, and suggestions related to the department to promote resident satisfaction. Includes, but not limited to, the development of resident needs profiles and adherence to meeting individual needs of each resident or service area.
- Develops quality assessment tools and conducting periodic reviews and inspections to assure efficient, appropriate, and high quality service.
- Investigates reported housekeeping related issues or concerns from residents or staff. Develops appropriate action plans for ongoing improvement.
- Complies with all Federal, State, and local government codes and guidelines.
- Serves on various committees, as requested.
- Develops methods, techniques, and procedures for the department and implement the procedures and policies of Oakwood.
- Attends required in-service training seminars, management development programs, and approved continuing education programs.
- Responsible for other duties as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in managing a team of environmental services/housekeeping employees through motivation, coaching, and development.
- Provides leadership that fosters a team approach in meeting the mission of Oakwood.
- Creates and maintains positive relations with residents, families, staff members, and the community.
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge infection control, sanitation protocols, and cleaning methods required.
- Maintains and protects the confidentiality of information.
- Exercises independent judgment and make sound decisions and exhibit flexibility when needed.
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations pertaining to the CCRC setting, including security, public health, and safety.
- Displays commitment to the quality care for older adults.
- Exhibits excellent communication and human relations skills.
EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND/OR TRAINING
- Associates degree is preferred.
- 5 to 7 years’ experience in a similar setting is preferred.
