The Company

Fineco Asset Management DAC (‘FAM’) is the Dublin based asset management subsidiary of FinecoBank S.p.A. (“FinecoBank”). FAM, which started its operations in May 2018, is authorized by the Central Bank of Ireland as a UCITS Management Company and it currently has approximately €25 bn in assets under management. FAM is a competence centre specialised in the management of fund-of-funds and single strategy funds (both managed internally and also externally buy 19 of the world’s most renowned investment managers). In addition to portfolio management activities, all key supporting and controlling functions, such as Compliance, Risk, Finance and Legal, are performed locally. FAM started with 5 employees and has grown rapidly over the past 3 years with a headcount currently sitting at 50 FTEs and growing quickly (half of our headcount was hired during the pandemic period).

The Role

Reporting to the Head of Fund Solutions, you will join an analytical, curious, and collaborative investment team. Key focus is to develop, share and debate investment ideas in order to deliver investment performance across the fund of funds for the benefit of clients. Leverage off your extensive investment knowledge, market analysis and fund research skills to achieve positive results. You will be able to monitor your ideas and assess the affect on client portfolios through the company’s data analytics. You will need to be a self-starter, who enjoys building positive working relationships and looking to make a difference in a busy but flexible and supportive working environment. We are currently looking into the option of implementing a long-term hybrid working style, with the potential to work from home for a percentage of the time.

  • Responsible for actively managing, monitoring, and reviewing investments to deliver positive investment results for fund of funds and end clients.
  • Take part in manager meetings in order to analyse investment opportunities and make fund selection recommendations
  • Assist in the formulation of views and build asset allocation strategy by conducting research, countries, sectors, and themes.
  • Develop a broad and generalist knowledge of fund of funds to understand and challenge investment ideas and assist with coverage
  • Effective implementation of trades in funds managed and across the wider team if required.
  • Participating in enhanced monitoring of delegated mandates
  • Work with the wider investment team and alongside other departments to develop processes and ensure operational excellence.
  • Contribute towards the continuing development of the company by participating in projects, fund launches, committees and other activities as requested from time to time.
  • Build relationships and rapport across the firm and represent the company and its investment team and investment process externally where appropriate.

Key Requirements

  • 5 years+ experience in an equity or multi asset portfolio management role
  • Have demonstrable experience in fund research and selection
  • Expertise in portfolio construction and asset allocation
  • Have broad or growing knowledge of the funds investment universe, largely UCITS funds and ETFs
  • Have the ability to analyse facts and arguments critically to produce credible recommendations
  • Interest and expertise in sustainable investing and SFDR a plus
  • Good analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Be a self-starter who is able to take initiative
  • Educated to university level and CFA desirable.
  • Knowledge of systems such as Morningstar, Bloomberg, Factset is a plus
  • Basic knowledge of Python or advanced Excel is a plus
