This Estimating Manager will be covering the west region, which includes west of Texas and the Dakotas. The role does not have to be based in that territory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Is responsible for the Estimating Department for their specific Brand and supporting the Director of Estimating for Cornerstone in aligning (within the constraints of serving the different market approaches) practices and processes. Time is of the essence in meeting the schedule. The Estimating Manager must be able to ensure scheduling, engineering, and pricing metal building systems occurs timely, economically and in accordance with the high standards of the organization.

Major Responsibilities:

• Responsible for ensuring the coverage of scheduling of estimate requests at all times.
• Responsible for the direct supervision of Estimators and Sales Engineers.
• Responsible for overseeing building designs used for the production of work essential in maintaining project quotations.
• Responsible for Engineering support for Customer Service and Sales.
• Responsible for assuring the use of Metl-Span Standards in the designs.
• Must be able to solve problems encountered during the estimating and quotation stage.
• Responsible for a program of self-development through continuous training programs and educational opportunities, to better equip one’s self in the performance of the job.
• Responsible to assist in the development of potential candidates in the department, through training programs and educational opportunities to better qualify them for the job they are performing, and to develop them for more responsible positions.
• Responsible for continuous improvement of Estimating tools and processes.
• Responsible for working with scheduling personnel to screen design loads on all incoming estimate requests for compliance with the minimum load criteria of the latest edition of the MBMA and resolve issues that occur.
• Responsible for developing competitive costing and assigned mark-up/margin levels on materials from outside venders.

Relationships:

• Reports to the Director of Estimating for Cornerstone
• Supports/mentors Estimating Team Leader for their given Brand
• Works closely with Estimating Managers of sister Brands
• Maintains relations with the Field Sales Force and Builder Network
• Maintains relations with Staff Engineering and other departments as necessary
• Handles relations with builders, architects, and engineers concerning engineering and estimating matters.

Qualifications/Skills:

• Ability to effectively manage people
• Ability to review and interpret project specifications
• Ability to read blue prints
• Must be computer proficient
• Must be detail and customer service oriented
• Must be comfortable on the phone with customers
• Knowledge of insulated panels and other adjacent Cornerstone products
