SUMMARY
The Facilities Support Technician shall assist the client maintenance team with general facilities and building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, vehicle/boat maintenance, minor equipment repair and grounds maintenance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The selected technician will answer requests from customers communicated in person or via email or other electronic formats and is assigned tasks to support staff members as necessary.
- Vehicle and Fleet: Selected Technician will assist with ensuring all fleet vehicles and vessels are maintained in such a manner that they are ready to be deployed at any time. This includes monthly service inspections, providing recommendations for fleet improvement, and proper record keeping providing a useful service log.
- Carpentry: Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs a wide range of features in buildings and other facilities including construction of storage areas, work rooms, and offices with existing buildings including framework, rafters, joist, insulation, sheet rock, paneling, doors, windows, and flooring. Build small structures and replaces deteriorated sections of existing structures.
- Grounds Maintenance and building maintenance. This involves lawn cutting using hand, power, or riding equipment. Trimming and edging around walks, flower beds, and walls. Landscaping by planting native flowers, grass, shrubs, and bushes. Appling herbicides to rid grounds of unwanted weeds and grasses.
- Performing routine building maintenance duties such as applying plaster, fixing fountains, pressure washing, and other duties.
- Performing minor repairs and maintenance procedures on equipment utilized in grounds keeping.
- Operate various power and hand tools such as portable drills, clippers, joiners, shapers, sanders, nail gun, combustion saws, routers, band and scroll saws, drill presses, tractor, forklift, etc.
Schedule and Deliverables
All work shall be of high quality, accurate, meet the assignment objectives, and performed within CNT and client. The selected Technician shall request clarification from the Task Order Manager on technical situations not specifically outlined company policies. Shall respond to requests in a timely manner, keeping customer informed on time required for resolution and status reports, if problem cannot be addressed immediately.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
- Will report to CNT Program Manager and may coordinate daily work with CNT Site Lead/Program Manager and interact with client representative (Task Order Manager).
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Requires 3-4 years of combined technical education, training and/or experience in similar duties.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Skills required to operate and troubleshoot equipment used to perform the above tasks.
- Previous knowledge and proven abilities to support facilities of similar size and scope.
- Ability to successfully pass a federal background check and a drug screen,
- Cherokee Federal employees are included as covered employees in U.S. Presidential Executive Order 14042, which mandates Covid vaccines for federal contractors. Executive Order 14042 is currently blocked from enforcement pending court proceedings. Therefore, Cherokee Federal is halting the application of the mandate; however, if the injunction is lifted, Cherokee Federal will restore administration of the vaccine requirement.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- This is a full-time position with expected 40 hours per week. Normal hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday however, the selected technician may be on call when task manager is unavailable to respond to an emergency. During such events, the selected technician will have authority to independently respond accordingly to make repairs to equipment, and limit damage to property and assets due to equipment failure.
- Work will be performed in the designated facility in Lafayette, LA.
- Local travel may be required by this task to support the duties outlined above.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Items weighing up to 65 pounds shall be lifted frequently, with objects weighing 65 pounds or more lifted rarely. Operates outdoor power equipment including mowers, tractors, and forklifts sometimes under adverse weather conditions.
