Position Description
The Financial Associate will perform accounting tasks and control functions that support the operations and financial record-keeping of External Education, focused on an assigned line of business. This position will facilitate decision-making by processing financial transactions efficiently, implementing improvements, and providing recommendations as needed. This integral support role requires an individual who is adept at prioritizing and focusing on tasks key to internal and external stakeholders.
- Processes invoices in a timely manner, utilizing Harvard’s financial tools, including requesting new vendor setups
- Contributes to fiscal month, quarter, and year-end closes by preparing journal entries and assisting with processes
- Processes accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and reconciliations, and communicates with customers
- Supports one or more lines of business by serving as a main finance point of contact, providing a high level of customer service to internal and external stakeholders
- Assists with ad hoc financial reporting and project requests
- Performs various operational accounting processes
- Reconciles and analyzes department balance sheet accounts
- Serves as purchasing card reviewer and ensures compliance with University and procurement policies

- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Understands financial systems and accounting procedures Proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Office suite applications
- Excellent attention to detail
- Commitment to delivering exceptional customer service
- Communicates and works effectively in a remote environment
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Works independently or collaboratively with minimal supervision
- May be tested on appropriate skills
Additional Information
May be expected to work occasional overtime.
This position is based in Boston, but the work may be done fully or primarily remote. Any remote work must be performed in a state in which Harvard is registered to do business (CA*, CT, GA, IL, MA, MD, ME, NH, NJ, NY, RI, VA, VT, and WA). Individual flexible and remote work options for this role will be discussed during the interview process. *Note: Harvard employees working in California must be exempt.
