Required Degree:

BS or BA in Horticulture plus 6 years of experience in floral design required.

MS or MA in Horticulture or closely related field preferred.

Required degree must be completed by the start date.

Experience:

  • Experience should demonstrate leadership and breadth of floral design and a commitment to excellence in teaching students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent leadership and training skills to communicate effectively with students and teaching assistants
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work well with faculty and students
  • Understanding design principles related to floral arranging
  • Ability to fairly evaluate student work

Duties/Expectations:

Provide an enriching and supportive environment in classrooms and laboratories where students can successfully fulfill course objectives in an already established course curriculum.

Plan and present lectures for the courses listed in the job summary based off an established curriculum.

Plan and direct hands-on laboratory activities in an engaging environment where students apply principles learned in the courses.

Coordinate with teaching assistants to oversee grading and student evaluation, including assignments, exams, and quizzes related to the courses.

Submit grades prior to the grade submittal deadline at the end of respective semesters

Coordinate purchase of necessary plants from wholesalers for various labs.

Understand and manage budgets for the cost effective purchasing of plant and materials for use in courses, laboratories, and mentored learning.

Mentor students in principles of floral design and maintenance.
