Elementary School Social Worker

The Role:
AnthroMed Education is hiring a Social Worker who will support General Education students in one elementary school building (K-2) in Eastpointe, MI. We are looking for a professional who will be excited to be a part of the community within the school and is passionate about using their skills to make real, positive change. This candidate will also be joining an energetic and dedicated Special Ed Team that works closely together!

Hours:
This is a full-time position
School Hours- 8:30-3:30

School Social Worker Responsibilities:

• Provide school-based counseling services for general education and at-risk students
• Conduct services in individual and/or group settings based on student’s needs
• Create a safe and welcoming environment for students to encourage social, emotional, and educational growth
• Develop methods of tracking the effectiveness of behavior support plans through the analysis of behavioral data and make changes to the plan as necessary
• Guide students through acquiring self-esteem and strong social skills
• Facilitate strong relationship-building with families, students and the community
• Organize classroom meetings, social skills groups, etc on identified areas of concern for the students
• Connect students and families with applicable community mental health organizations
• Offer staff development on issues related to social-emotional-environmental factors that impact learning
• Promote student self-advocacy and independence by encouraging each student to identify his/her needs and preferences
• Collaborate with families about the educational planning for each student
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Master's Degree in Social Work
• Previous school social work experience
• S310 School approval is preferred, but not necessary
