What this job involves – The building maintenance assistant supports operation, inspection, and maintenance processes to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing equipment and systems in assigned facilities. Assists the various maintenance disciplines in maintenance and repair efforts, as well as independently performing defined tasks. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas.
What is your day to day?
- Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and repair work orders on site safety showers and eye wash stations, and other facility mechanical, electrical, and plumbing installed equipment.
- Performs assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations.
- Assistants are required to work with a variety of disciplines tasked to assist costumer and coworkers as needed.
- Moves office furniture, machinery, equipment and other materials as requested.
- Completes hazard assessments as necessary and complies with all safety procedures, maintaining good housekeeping and safety of work areas.
- Updates work order status in real time in the CMMS system.
- Escalates problems or issues to customer and manager in a timely manner.
Work Hours/Shift
- This position will work 12-hour night shifts and will work 84 hours per pay period. Wednesday through Saturday off every other Wednesday. 6am - 6pm (Scheduled off on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). Required to be available by phone. Essential Employee - must come in for ex. Snow event.
Desired experience and technical skills
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Have entry level working experience in general building repair and maintenance, basic plumbing, and basic electrical.
- Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.
- Working from heights from ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, ect.
- Lifting up to 40 lbs. and climbing a ladder up to 30 ft.
- Strong Customer Service skills
- Strong Interpersonal skills
- Strong Computer skills
Preferred
- Aerial boom lift 3b and scissor lift certification
- Fork Truck certification
