Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Golf Operations Manager to join the team at Ring of Kerry (ROK) Golf Course.

This role is responsible for managing the day-to-day golf and club experience. The role oversees the management and performance of the ROK Golf Shop and all applicable department operations and services provided to assure a very high standards and total customer satisfaction. The role will report to the General Manager, Sheen Falls Lodge (GMSFL).

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
To enhance the overall experience for members and guests who use the ROK Golf Club
Liaise with members and guests about their requirements/feedback and communicate this to the GMSFL with appropriate follow up.
Source new individual and corporate members for the ROK Golf Club
Ensure all new members are welcome and inducted in the golf club as per programme.
Oversee allocation of golf tee times to ensure adequate timing for guests, members, events and tournaments.
Involved in a 'hands on' capacity in daily operations, including food and beverage, administration, sales etc.
Ensure adequate staffing levels at correct times to meet members and guests.
Report staff absence, sickness, and any related concerns to human resources.
Ensure clubhouse and driving range are presented, internally and externally to the required standards at all times, paying particular attention to locker rooms, public areas, putting grounds and practise tees.
Management of golf stewards with regard to starting, speed of play, ranging and any other relevant issues to enhance satisfaction.
Management of the ROK Pro Shop with regard to suppliers, advance purchasing plan for each season, presentation of the shops, store room, golf carts etc.
Management of the ROK Golf Club reception.
Management of any external golf professionals regarding member and guest lessons, club repair and any other relevant issues.
Liaise with GMSFL on budget controls and other financial regard
Take lead on business development and communicating with golf societies, and golf operators and golf tour operators.
Liaise with director of sales and marketing (DS&M SFL) as appropriate and follow up on all leads.
Develop a strategy to drive green fee revenues.
Be pro-active in the sales and marketing aspects of the golf and club product.
Liaise with HR SFL with regard to recruitment and selection needs, assisting with onboarding, departmental induction, discipline, grievances etc.
Ensure roster compliance is in line with company policy, current legislation, and statutory obligations.
Ensure all team members are recording their working hours as per policy and legislation.
Carry out performance appraisals and workplace assessments as required.
Ensure staff are trained in all aspects of their role to ensure standards are achieved.
Ensure company health and safety statement and policies are adhered to and follow up on any issues as they arise.
Attendance at any management meetings, and weekly meetings as required.
Arrange for agreed services and products to be available to the guest in a timely and efficient manner.
To check the daily sheet and other correspondence each morning ensuring that you are fully familiar with all incoming business/golf events/functions/special requests etc.
To be fully familiar with and be able to effectively use the computer systems in the club house.
Ensure the smooth operation of the ROK Pro Shop as required and be responsible for the operations of the pro-shop daily.
To promote good communication between the ROK Golf Club and SFL- ensuring that information gets passed on to the relevant personnel.
Responsible for the monies relating to the club house
Ensuring that the ROK Pro-Shop is stocked correctly and that products are displayed neatly.
To ensure that all bookings are entered on the system; money collect from players, and sales at the shop.
To advise players of the current terms and conditions of play and ensure that players adhere to club rules at all times, and up sale products in the shop.
To complete a full handover to prior to going off duty so to ensure that communication remains consistent.
To arrive for work on time and dressed to correct standards of uniform, grooming and personal hygiene.
To adhere to the company's terms and conditions as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
To comply with your responsibilities as defined in the Safety Statement.
To attend training sessions and meetings as required.
Where possible to anticipate guest needs and initiate actions.
The company promotes a high level of team awareness: - be aware of being courteous to your colleagues and lending helping hand if needed.
To report without reasonable delay any hazards you are aware of.

Profile description

Requirements/ Skills:
Previous experience in managing and developing a team.
Ability to demonstrate knowledge and experience in the Golf Industry.
Minimum of three years experience in a similar role.
Strong knowledge of current hardware and merchandise trends.
High level working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge of point of sale and stock inventory systems.
Experience in budget management.
Staff training and development.
Delivery of exceptional service levels.
