Job Overview

We are recruiting a grower and packer for our market garden located at our organic mixed farm. The market garden consists of a propagation tunnel, protected cropping area of 1400 m2, outdoor growing areas of 1100m2 and a packing shed. We specialise in growing organic salads and other seasonal vegetables for our Honestly restaurants and farm shops. The successful candidate will be self-motivated and enthusiastic with a willingness to learn and develop within the role as the market garden evolves.

Responsibilities

• Sowing
• Planting
• Harvesting
• Crop maintenance
• Ground preparation
• General garden maintenance
• Packing salads and preparing orders for customers
• Handling incoming orders
• Following HACCP procedures
• Quality control
• Liaising with our customers and other staff across the Drumanilra sites
• Record keeping

Requirements

• Training and experience working in commercial organic horticulture
• Experience using garden machinery an advantage e.g. two-wheel tractor
• High level of physical fitness, strength and general resilience
• Keen attention to detail and ability to complete tasks in an efficient and timely manner
• Very good organisational skills and communication skills
