We are currently seeking an experienced Health Care Tech in Elgin, SC.

In this position as Health Care Tech, you are responsible for assisting with oversight of the operation of the Health Care Department. The Health Care Tech will assist with healthcare to consumers, following established policies and procedures of the agency and assist in the care and management of all consumers within their scope of practice.

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintain a current appointment schedule.
  • Ensure timely medical follow up as ordered.
  • Ensure MARs are updated and current.
  • Ensure medications are ordered and available within 24 hours of initial order as well as ordering medication refills as needed.
  • Communicate with agency pharmacy on medication orders and communicate all medical information/results to team members.
  • Ensure physician orders are signed every 6 months.
  • Assist Residential Coordinators/HSP with obtaining adaptive equipment prescriptions as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding consumers and staffing issues.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments.
  • Escort consumers to medical appointments as scheduled and on time.
  • Schedule follow up appointments as needed.
  • Include Program Director on all communication with Residential staff.
  • Review turnaround/cycle medications to ensure accuracy prior to sending to consumer’s residence/Day School.
  • Review of medications in general to ensure accuracy prior to sending to consumer’s residence/Day School.
  • Maintain a secure area for all control medications (Double Locked).
  • Keep all training current.
  • Ensure/Monitor that all medical information is filed in medical file timely.
  • Maintain order of all medical information in an organized and neat manor.
  • Maintain assigned vehicles and documentation as required by the agency.
  • Ensure medication is provided for Day School as needed.
  • Review monthly MARs to ensure all information is current and without error.

Qualifications include:

  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • 1 + years of experience as a CNA preferred.
  • Ability to perform and use safety measures (CPR/First Aid) is required.
  • Valid S.C. Driver’s License, a good driving record as determined by the Executive Director and have available reliable transportation. Must report any subsequent violations that may jeopardize the status of Driver’s License.
  • Self-starter with an ability to work with little supervision.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to keep and maintain accurate records.
  • Objective and flexible in attitude and work assignments.
  • Ability to left up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Ability to pass all background checks: SC Law Enforcement, Dept. of Social Services Abuse and Neglect, National Sex Offender Register, and the Department of Motor Vehicles and First Aid/CPR training and CPI training.
