We are seeking a Histology Technologist in our Duke Wakefield Mohs Surgery clinic located in Raleigh to perform routine histopathological tests in a clinical laboratory for use in the treatment and diagnosis of disease. The schedule for this position is 7:00am - 5:30pm, Monday-Thursday, with no weekend or holidays.

JOB DUTIES

• Perform routine sections of surgical tissue for microscopic examination in the diagnosis and treatment of disease
• Prepare equipment and reagents for frozen embedding, cutting and mounting of tissue; perform routine and special staining techniques
• Label, file, discard and maintain records of tissue samples and slides
• Provide specimens for microscopic examination and diagnosis by the pathologist.
• Perform frozen sectioning on a cryostat
• Clean and disinfect exam areas per clinic guidelines
• Set up equipment, instruments, reagents and apparatus for specific laboratory techniques
• Perform various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations
• Utilize various hospital information systems and software.
• Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors of Science/Bachelor of Arts in Chemical, Physical, Biological or Clinical Laboratory Science; or Medical Technology.
• Meets CLIA standards for high-complexity testing
• Demonstrated competency in histological laboratory skills.
• Ability to perform assigned tasks on routine and special material.
• 2 year full time experience in a lab setting
