The Human Resources (HR) Generalist & Operations Assistant is a full-time position (9am - 5pm, M-F) will run the daily functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. As Operations Assistant, you will, in tandem with your supervisor the Director of Finance & Operations, take ownership of the I.T., building maintenance, building cleanliness, vehicle registration and maintenance, and other operational functions.
What you'll do:
- Provide direct assistance to the Executive Director of Safe Harbor.
- Provide direct management of our Employee Navigator database for all employees.
- Serve as a safe space for employees to discuss issues, grievances, and/or questions.
- Recruit, screen, and interview job applicants for open positions.
- Manage all H.R. functions with regard to employee terminations.
- Conduct comprehensive onboarding for all new hires to ensure a successful onboarding and “welcome” experience.
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
- Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
- Ensure that Safe Harbor maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices
- Consistently review policies and practices to maintain compliance with all regulations.
- Assist with finance projects under the direction of the Director of Finance & Operations.
- Ensure that all common rooms of Safe Harbor’s Lifeline & Prevention Center (LPC) remain stocked with supplies and all items are in working order.
- Provide first contract with vendors for all I.T. needs, building supplies, building maintenance, LPC cleaners, and other operational vendors.
- Foster and model a positive, open, and direct-communication environment.
- Additional projects and responsibilities.
What we're looking for:
- You are detail-oriented and can work independently.
- You have previous experience working in Human Resources, preferably in a management role.
- You are a people-person and are friendly and outgoing as needed to positively represent the HR and Operations departments of Safe Harbor.
- You are skilled in conflict resolution, problem solving, and crisis management.
- You have a knowledge of state and federal employment/labor laws.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- You are a self-starter.
- You have a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management or a related field (actual work experience in the field will be considered in lieu of a degree).
- You have a valid drivers license and are able to pass a background investigation check.
