APTech is seeking an Instructional Design Specialist to serve as our Training Team Manager who is responsible for developing instructional content and incorporating it into approved training products in accordance with client standards and styles. The Training Team Manager identifies and assesses the training needs of external clients (particularly in the pavements and transportation fields) as well as the internal needs of the company. The Training Team Manager also supports all assigned instructional design development tasks and training delivery mechanisms and formats. The Training Team Manager manages the training area budget and supervises and directs the efforts of the Training Team staff.

The ideal candidate will have the following capabilities:

  • Experience in the development of training content for different platforms and environments.
  • Experience with instructional technology to develop training products that meet applicable standards.
  • Knowledge of transportation industry trends and advancements.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 standards as applied to the development of electronic learning products.
  • Proficiency in budget and proposal development.
  • Proven leadership experience in cultivating a motivated team.
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) skills.

In addition, the ideal candidate will have a positive can-do attitude, a strong work ethic, and an ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities:
The Training Team Manager will work collaboratively and effectively with Project Managers and clients to provide successful learning outcomes within the design, development, implementation, and management of instructional content. Furthermore, the Training Team Manager will lead many business development activities, including writing proposals, developing project scopes and budgets, developing strong relationships with current and potential clients, and helping maintain APTech’s strong industry reputation within the technical specialty area.

Additional job responsibilities include staff development, conference and workshop attendance, evaluating emerging technologies for potential value for teaching and learning, maintaining knowledge of instructional technology industry through professional development, and project and training area management.



Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Instructional Technology, Educational Technology, Education, Instructional Designer, or Instructional Developer is required or 5 years of experience working within the field. A Master’s degree is preferred.

Other qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within training delivery and development.
  • Knowledge of Section 508 standards. Trusted Tester Certificate preferred.
  • Good overall computer usage skills, including familiarity with the Microsoft Office software suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Adobe learning modules.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Knowledge of transportation engineering (especially pavements) and engineering principles is preferred.
  • Ability to travel and flexibility to meet deadlines.

Salary: $75,000 - $90,000 annually depending on education and experience
