Dublin Business School is continuing to develop its portfolio of blended learning and online courses, which is key to its commitment to provide a flexible learning environment for students. Building on the successful launch of DBX, DBS’s online learning platform, this is an exciting opportunity for an instructional designer to build real-world experience as part of a team developing dynamic innovative courseware to the high standards expected of DBS learners. Reporting to the Educational Technologist, the instructional designer will have a chance to utilise a number of educational technologies while working on a variety of projects in different disciplines.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Work with subject-matter experts (SMEs) to envisage how learning outcomes can be achieved through the development of courseware
  • Co-develop courseware with SMEs
  • Review courseware to ensure it meets high quality standards
  • Co-create online assessments with SMEs
  • Raise awareness about the use of educational technologies in DBS
  • Assist with the administration of Moodle
Required Skills, Experience and Attributes:
  • Postgraduate qualification in Instructional Design, E-Learning, Technology Enhanced Learning or equivalent
  • Working knowledge of instructional design development approaches, for example ABC Design, Universal Design, Successive Approximations Model (SAM), ADDIE and/or Gagne's Nine Events of Instruction
  • Working knowledge of authoring tools, such as Articulate Storyline 3 or Articulate Rise 360, and audio and video editing applications, such as Audacity, Camtasia, VideoScribe, Raptivity or similar
  • Ability to teamwork with busy committed SMEs
  • Graphic design experience is desirable
  • Strong commitment to higher education
  • Willingness to adopt an organised but flexible approach to the work environment
  • Strong verbal, visual and written communication skills
  • Take an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Bring a creative and innovative approach to design and development
