The Opportunity

This position works out of our Alameda, CA location in the Abbott Diabetes Care Division, where we are focused on helping people with diabetes manage their health with life-changing products that provide accurate data to drive better-informed decisions. We’re revolutionizing the way people monitor their glucose levels with our new sensing technology.

The Investigations Engineer, will assess products that have been used in a clinical investigation and maintain investigations lab.

What you’ll work on

• Perform inspections under optical and digital microscopes,
• Create photographic documentation
• Review and interpret complex data logs
• Execute laboratory testing of devices
• Draw conclusions based on written accounts, physical evidence, and digital data.
• Work with Sr. Engineers to interpret any unclear findings
• Maintain records of all findings
• Draft investigation findings reports
• Maintain biohazard lab
• Log receipt of all incoming products requiring assessment
• Organize and catalog products for easy retrieval
• Reach out to others within organization to coordinate activities
• Manage disposal including separation of materials
• Perform design verification
• Assist other teams as needed

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science (Science or Engineering preferred) or equivalent relelvent experience
• 6 years relevant experience. Relevant job experience includes Quality Control Analyst for QC laboratories, Medical Device or IVD Verification and Validation (V&V) Engineer, Laboratory Medical Technician.

Preferred Qualifications

• Excellent organizational skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience working in chemical or biohazard lab
• Proficiency in Microsoft office
