Junior In-house Solicitor
Risk, Compliance & Professional Standards
Background
The Risk, Compliance and Professional Standards (“RCPS”) department in Grant Thornton Ireland provides internal firm support services to all offices in Ireland in many specialist areas as follows:

Legal and data protection;

Client acceptance and continuance;
-
Audit methodology and accounting technical support;
-
Quality and risk management; and
-
Insolvency compliance.
RCPS provide strategic, innovative, creative and most importantly quality services and solutions to enable our people every day to give the best external client service.
The RCPS team promotes and monitors compliance with applicable auditing and accounting standards, external laws and regulations as well as internal policies and procedures to help manage Grant Thornton’s regulatory, litigation and reputational risk.
RCPS includes our Legal & Data Protection team (“L&DP”) headed up by the firm’s Legal Counsel. L&DP are responsible for areas including commercial engagements by the firm, supplier and client due diligence questionnaires, claims and complaints, internal data protection compliance and general legal / data protection queries.
Opportunity
Due to continued growth and internal advancement within the team, L&DP is now recruiting for a junior in-house solicitor. This is a new role. The role will focus on assisting the firm’s commercial contracts solicitor; however will also require some assistance to the claims solicitor when necessary.
Duties and responsibilities

Assisting with commercial contract review (client and supplier);

Assisting with supplier due diligence questionnaires;

Assisting with management of new and existing claims;

Assisting with drafting certain standard contracts such as NDAs and DPAs;

Responding to and assisting with ad hoc contractual and general legal queries from the business;

Providing legal support to the business;

Contributing to ad-hoc risk projects to assist with overall firm compliance and quality; and

Reporting directly to the firms commercial contracts solicitor
Required skills and experience
-
Qualified solicitor in Ireland;
-
0-3 years PQE;
-
Excellent interpersonal skills;
-
Commercial contracts experience;
-
Litigation experience an advantage (but not essential);
-
IP experience preferable;
-
Dedicated and enthusiastic team player;
-
Detail-oriented and organised and with a solid work ethic;

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); and
-
Must be highly motivated with an ability to take ownership for themselves and eager to learn.
