• he Lead Special Procedures Technician assists the Director/Manager, Imaging Services in the day-to-day supervision and coordination of assigned section personnel as well as supply and equipment resources. Performs all radiographic procedures while under the general supervision of a licensed practitioner for the purposes of diagnosis and/or treatment of anatomic and physiologic disorders at a technical level not requiring constant supervision and within the scope of their license.
  
  Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. 1. Performs all radiographic procedures in a sterile/surgical environment and verification/administration of contrast media with appropriate application of technical and positioning protocols, safety procedures, radiation protection and proper image identifying criteria according to department policy and procedure.
  2. 2. Verifies physician orders for instructions from requesting physician and consults with the radiologists as necessary. Explains procedure and provides education as appropriate.
  3. 3. Performs equipment warm up, calibration, and safety check as needed. Operates hospital computer system. Reports to supervisor any equipment malfunctions. Operates equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines for appropriate quality control.
  4. 4. Responsible for departmental records. Accurately and promptly documents in departmental records (film, file and computer) patient name, exam date, film/image markers, clinical history, complaints, allergies, etc Reports reactions, complications, changes in condition etc. to radiologist, physician, supervisor, peers, and nursing unit as necessary.
  5. 5. Plans and organizes work schedules, call schedules, daily work assignments for section staff. Participates in staff/student evaluation process, disciplinary process, attendance documentation, orientation, and training, and employee selection.
  6. 6. Assists management with an effective quality and process improvement program for all areas of responsibility. Participates in volume reporting, productivity reporting, quality improvement data, and maintaining appropriate documentation for regulatory agencies.
  7. 7. Maintains a cost efficient supply of inventory, which minimizes department expense while ensuring appropriate stock levels. Ensures that adequate supply quantities are maintained and rotated for daily use.
  8. 8. Oversees radiation safety policies and procedures of organization.
  9. 9. Performs staff/student education and orientation duties.

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $49.04 - $49.57 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
