JOB TITLE: Lead Medical Assistant

REPORTS TO: Clinical Director

QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate or equivalent

Medical Assistant Certification is desirable

Training in Central Services Operations is preferable

CPR certified, or achieved within 30 days of employment

JOB SUMMARY:

Lead medical assistant is responsible for the supervision of medical assistants and performing one or more of the following clinical and non-clinical functions. This position provides support for patient care activities in the preparation, assembly and organization of the environment, facility, equipment, and supplies necessary for patient encounters. Supports Lombard and Mount Prospect clinics.

DUTIES:

• Support the medical assistants, which includes all functions of a medical assistant.
• Oversee and train new/existing medical assistants. Ensure all MAs provide quality medical treatment and customer service.
• Promote a positive work environment in which the team members work together. Refuse to tolerate unacceptable treatment of others.
• Assist clinical director with performance reviews by providing feedback on individual MAs as needed.
• Assist with surgeries, turnover for surgeries, and patient recovery/wake up.
• Complete Inventory log every month or as needed and communicate with clinical manager on supply stock and ordering.
• Assist/perform the unpacking and verifying of medical supplies that are delivered to the office and complete log sheet.
• Assign and oversee/assist in monthly maintenance on autoclaves, complete weekly performance checks on autoclaves, and ensure the quality control tests on CT machine are done every month.
• Perform monthly/quarterly clinic maintenance logs which includes AED machine, fire extinguishers, emergency lights, furnace filters, etc.
• Assist in the maintenance of neat, orderly, and cleanly clinic including exam rooms, surgery rooms, and bathrooms.
• Delegate specific duties to MAs as needed.
• Recognizes and utilizes safety precautions and procedures in adherence to established standards of infection control.
• Assists in maintenance of medical equipment including PM, cleaning, troubleshooting with technicians.
• Travels to satellite offices.
• Participates in Quality Assurance activities.
• Assumes responsibility for attending staff meetings and in-house in-services.
• Performs other duties as directed by management team.
