Do you have experience teaching preschoolers in a nurturing environment? Do you have an education in early childhood development or have your CDA? Join the YMCA as a Preschool Teacher for 4-5 year olds!This is a full-time position, 40 hours weekly. Set schedule of 8:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. M-F weekly. Minimum of $14.00/hr, commensurate with experience. Full benefits package, including medical, dental, vision insurance after 30 days of employment; and 403(b) with YMCA match after 2 years of employment.
1. Ensure the safety of all children; maintain a high level of confidentiality.
a. Maintain awareness at all times of children’s activities.
b. Follow emergency procedures as outlined by the Y Emergency Procedure Guide.
c. Never leave children unsupervised.
d. Follow parent/guardian sign in and sign out procedures.
2. Create and deliver age-appropriate curriculum.
3. Supervise and interact with children in a variety of activities.
a. Provide comfort to children
4. Document attendance.
5. Respectfully communicate with children, parents, supervisors and other Y staff.
a. Provide feedback to parent/guardian as necessary.
6. Adhere to work schedule and substitute for other staff as needed.
7. Assist in supervision of assigned program staff and volunteers, including but not limited to ensuring adherence to work schedule, monitoring staff performance, and ensuring staff follows policies and procedures.
8. Follow emergency procedures and safety precautions. Follow procedures for reporting all accidents, incidents and
hazards.
9. Adhere to all policies, rules, and regulations as outlined in employee handbook and other communications. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
10. Accept additional assignments as deemed appropriate, within the scope of the job description.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum age 21 required.
- Current CDA Credential or an AA Degree in Early Childhood Education or a BS Degree in Elementary Education preferred.
- Previous experience in child supervision and education preferred.
- Previous experience in supervision preferred.
