Summary:
Under the supervision of the Nurse Manager provides support to the unit.

Responsibilities:
Cleanliness. Consistently maintains an organized, clean and sanitary environment including patient rooms and work area. Adheres to all established cleaning procedures. Adheres to established decontamination procedures when preparing equipment / instruments for return to central supply. Equipment: Transports and maintains all equipment, reporting any broken equipment or concerns to the charge nurse and manager. Retrieves necessary equipment from other areas and returns the equipment to its designated department. Stock: Stocks and distributes sterile and non-sterile supplies & equipment. Obtains requisitioned items from Central Supply and Material distribution. Always rotates stock to assure that the oldest dated is used first and pulls any outdated stock. Monitors supplies for open and expire dates. Orders and maintains appropriate par levels of supplies including special order items. Patient Room Checks. Assures that the equipment in the patient rooms is in good working order daily, including the beds are in preventative mode, glove and sharps boxes are replaced as needed, resuscitation masks, oxygen masks, and suction canisters are in the room. Patient care rooms are stocked according to specific unit guidelines. Ensures a safe environment. Safety: assists manager in assuring unit follows safety regulations. Inspects and completes safety audits/ observations to ensure compliance. Educates staff to ensure compliance. Reports safety concerns and recommends actions to improve safety within department. Inspects patient rooms and work area for safety concerns and reports promptly. Completes maintenance requests for needed repairs and follows through to ensure repair completed. Other duties as assigned.
