Chemical LOGISTICS OPERATOR (Load / Unload Operator)

Bioenergy a biodiesel manufacture is currently seeking to hire Temporary Logistics Operators to support its forty (40) million gallon production facility in Memphis, TN. The Memphis facility produces biodiesel from multiple feedstocks, including from vegetable oil, animal fats, and used cooking oil. The purpose of the The Logistics Operator safely perform daily activities involved in loading and unloading trucks, railcars, and any other vehicles or material containers. The Logistics Operator reports to the Production Supervisor and functionally reports to the Logistics Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, start up, operate, or shut down logistics equipment per documented operating procedures
  • Validate the driver’s paperwork with the correct weight ticket and complete required paperwork
  • Complete logistics operating work tasks in alignment with priorities set by Shift Supervisor, Production Manager, and Logistics Manager
  • Monitor loading/unloading areas to ensure that materials in vehicles and containers are not in danger of overflowing
  • Report loading/unloading deviations, or other concern to production shift supervisor/production manager upon discovery
  • Comply with regulatory, company policies and procedures including safety
  • Ensure lines and valves are properly set up per documented operating procedures before loading
  • Perform Job Cycle Checks (JCCs) while actually performing a job to confirm the procedure content truly reflects the operating practice
  • Troubleshoot when necessary problems associated with receiving tank level information
  • Train other operators in loading/unloading work tasks and activities
  • Participate in shift change meetings.
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment and loading/unloading areas in accordance with good housekeeping and safety rules
  • Possess practical knowledge of BQ 9000 concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Understand Bioenergy Quality Policy and dedication to consistently and safely provide quality products that meets the needs of our customers
  • May serve on an Employee Safety (Involvement) Committee.
Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • At least 1 year of industrial or manufacturing work experience
  • An associates or trade school degree in manufacturing operations and/or a related field is an advantage.
  • Possess problem solving skills.
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to walk for prolonged periods.
  • Able to work on multi-levels.
  • Able to climb straight ladders.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds.

Additional Information

This is a temporary to full-time position that reports to the Production Supervisor. The work schedule for this position is 12-hour Day shifts. The Memphis manufacturing plant operates on a 7 day, 24 hour schedule.
