Overview
MercyOne Central Iowa operates four not-for-profit Catholic medical centers in Des Moines West Des Moines Newton and Centerville and two specialty hospitals – MercyOne Children’s Hospital in Des Moines and MercyOne Rehabilitation Hospital in Clive (965 beds total) – along with more than 20 additional facilities that house more than 50 primary care pediatric internal medicine and specialty clinics. Founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1893 MercyOne Central Iowa has the longest continually operating hospital in Des Moines and is also one of the largest employers in the state with more than 7000 employees and a medical staff of more than 1000 physicians and allied health associates. MercyOne Central Iowa is a member of MercyOne which was founded in 1998 through a collaboration between CommonSpirit Health and Trinity Health – two of the country’s foremost not-for-profit Catholic health organizations. Responsibilities
Performs general repairs that do not require a specialized technician.
Mechanical repairs of patient/resident equipment (beds, wheel chairs, bedside tables, gurneys and other hospital and extended care equipment)
Service work – Including but not limited to:
Electrical repair or replacement of light receptacles(bulb/ballast replacements)
Plumbing maintenance and repair.(clogged stools, clogged sinks, etc.)
Kitchen equipment maintenance and repair of garbage disposal, dish washer, food carts and small appliances.
Minor repairs of building and equipment, desks, shelving and sheet rock repairs.
Inspection/Repair of both manual and automatic doors
Preventative maintenance – Including but not limited to:
Air Handler/Exhaust Fan Preventative Maintenance
Kitchen Equipment Preventative Maintenance
Pnuematic Tube System Preventative Maintenance

$17.89 - $24.60 /hour

Moving and storage of furniture – transporting furniture and equipment from one location to another without damaging.
Documentation of all Preventative/Corrective maintenance work performed utilizing CMMS system.
Operate required vehicle(s) in a safe manner to perform required duties of the position.
Cross trained at additional Mercy One Medical Center Facilities(where applicable)
Orders supplies and materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
Addresses patients, visitors and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner
Upholding all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures of licensing and other accrediting outside agencies
Strict adherence to all safety polices and regulations.
Disaster operations assistance when deemed necessary
Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Valid Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law.
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire
Working Knowledge of basic hand tools, 1-2 years of general maintenance experience(preferred
