Located on the shore of Lake Maxinkuckee, Culver Academies encompasses 1,800 acres of green hills and woodlands, and a historic collegiate-like campus with beautiful Gothic architecture. Our location in Culver, Indiana, offers the best of both worlds; a beautiful, serene setting with access to large cities nearby, including the home of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. We are also less than two hours away from Chicago and Indianapolis.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Major Gifts Officers manage a portfolio of lead gift prospects to introduce alumni and parents to the joy of giving philanthropic dollars to Culver Academies. In coordination with the Chief Advancement Officer, they develop and execute a strategy for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to reach an annual fundraising goal in current and deferred gifts that match donor interest and capacity with the needs of Culver Academies.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum of five years of demonstrated fundraising success at a secondary or higher education level, with $1,000,000 or more in gifts secured annually; successful experience in sales or business will also be considered.
- General knowledge of secondary school fundraising, including Annual Giving, Planned Giving, Capital Campaigns, Foundation solicitations, Communications, and Special Events.
- Effective communication skills, including excellent writing ability.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills; a high level of comfort with direct donor interaction and cold calls.
- Well-honed skills in developing long-term donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
- Must be available for frequent travel within an assigned territory.
- Strong computer skills with experience in fundraising databases, e.g., Raisers Edge and Veracross.
