The Medical Physics Resident will provide therapeutic medical physics services in the assigned areas of the Radiation Oncology Department under the supervision of an ABR certified Medical Physicist.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions • Resident will be a self-directed, independent, motivated learner as guided by the Residency Program Director, Associate Director, and mentors. • Initiate and participate in chart rounds, journal clubs, and physics meetings. • Generates treatment plans for patient treatments as needed under the guidance of Certified Medical Dosimetrist or ABR certified Physicist. • Seeks guidance from senior physicists when designing complex or non-standard treatment plans. • Follows necessary safety protocols to ensure safe and effective delivery of radiation treatment. • Demonstrates knowledge of current best practices for quality assurance. • Performs recommended quality assurance procedures to ensure the safe operation of radiation equipment. • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of equipment function and operation. • Regularly assesses current processes to ensure their effectiveness and continuous quality improvement. • Performs patient specific quality assurance procedures including but not limited to IMRT/SBRT/SRS QA, In-vivo dose measurements, and activities that are required to ensure the safe delivery of radiation treatments. • Performs weekly chart checks in accordance with department policies. • Responsible and accountable for: • Compliance with workplace policies and procedures for risk identification, risk assessment and risk control. • Active participation in activities associated with the management of workplace health and safety. • Identification and reporting of health and safety risks, accidents, incidents, injuries and property damage at the workspace. • Proper utilization of performance (ownership, teamwork communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence. • Demonstrates standard of performance (ownership, teamwork communication, compassion) that support patient satisfaction and principles of service excellence Non-Essential Functions • All other duties as assigned.

  • Masters Degree

Education: Master’s or Ph.D from CAMPEP accredited graduate program required or have completed sufficient coursework to satisfy the CAMPEP alternative pathway to enter a CAMPEP accredited residency program.
Experience: Experience in radiation oncology physics preferred
