The Buckeye Ranch is currently seeking a Medical Revenue and Billing Specialist to join our Accounting department! The primary function of Medical Revenue and Billing Specialist position is to support the organization to facilitate timely and accurate conversion of clinical data into invoices, payments, and reports.

Schedule: Full-time, Exempt

Location: Columbus, OH

What you'll do:

  • Administration and on-going maintenance of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) software as it relates to the billing logic, procedure codes, and related processes used to convert clinical activity into invoices or electronic billing.
  • Creation of claims from Electronic Health Record software as electronic 837P claim files or PDF invoices.
  • Submission of files to clearinghouse or direct to payer
  • Posting of the resulting 835 remittance files, ACH/Check payments, and Non-Payment RA files.
  • Processing of all Electronic Health Record Billing/Invoices in the proper month
  • Analysis of unpaid claims data including follow-up with payer, clearinghouse, or others inside of TBR or external to TBR to ensure payment.
  • Maintain a current knowledge level of state level Medicaid billing by reviewing information received from various sources.
  • Provide supervision and direction to Medical Collection Specialist
  • Completes or supports continuous quality reviews and monitoring of pertinent data and procedures as needed for contracts, licensure, accreditation, etc.
  • Ability to review data, identify patterns, define issues (errors or other scenarios). Organize and define the steps to resolution for a variety of audiences/recipients. Subsequent follow-up to ensure completion, if needed.
  • Performs analysis of patient clinical and billing data to identify documentation, coding and charging opportunities.
  • Works closely with clinical areas to effectively document services performed and understand relationship of documentation, medical necessity, coding and charging for all services provided.
  • Works pre-bill edits and collaborates with intra-departmental team members to identify root cause.
  • Effectively plan, manage, and achieve project milestones, quality, customer satisfaction, budget and profitability. Execute disciplined approach and standards for project communications, resource planning and issue resolution processes to ensure success.
  • Work with cross functional teams to identify and implement solutions that will support improvements or growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Nursing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of years of education and experience (required)
  • 3+ years in billing, charge documentation, charge audit or charge capture activities, or other functions related to revenue cycle activities.
  • You have an active Ohio driver's license.
