The New Markets Research Associate (NMRA) will help Deployed Resources research and evaluate potential new markets and lines of business for the company. The NMRA will be directly involved in a wide range of the company’s key business and strategy decisions, be entrusted with sensitive company information, and will interact with mid-level leaders regularly.

Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions

  • Report to and work with the Director of Research and Analysis and Senior VP Business Strategy & Growth daily.
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of a potential target market; including the size of the market, potential customers, the competitive landscape, alliances, pricing structures, required investments of people and equipment, financial projections, opportunities, and barriers to entry.
  • Perform in-depth research and analysis of government and commercial business opportunities, potential teaming partners (large and small) and competitive market analysis.
  • Support the creation of evaluations and business cases to senior leadership

Skills and Specifications

  • Must excel at gathering, organizing, evaluating, sifting, and presenting large amounts of financial and qualitative information.
  • Expertise in building clear, concise presentations including a wide range of complex quantitative and qualitative information.
  • High comfort level interacting with department heads and staff of other internal organizations including the PMO, Food Services, Emergency Management, Logistics, Finance, HR and others.
  • Ability to present information, answer questions, and advocate for data-driven viewpoints.
  • Expertise and creativity in gathering information from sources ranging from online information, news reports, financial reports, industry organizations, regulatory agencies, etc.
  • Experience with online, telephone, and in-person information-gathering is critical.
  • Proficiency with publicly available databases and research tools and other government and commercial sources of information.
  • Familiarity with federal, state and local government contracting and procurement processes is desired.
  • High comfort level with gathering information from and interacting with people at all levels of the company.
  • High level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint and other commonly used business software and tools.
  • A critical aspect of this position will be to learn about all aspects of the Deployed Resources business, which will create opportunities to grow and evolve the position over time.

Work Environment

This role operates in a professional office environment and field environments. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, filing cabinets and other presentation materials. There is an expectation of clear communication in English both written and orally.

Physical Demands

This role requires sitting, standing, walking, listening, speaking, lifting (up to 25 lbs.), and gross and fine manipulation using hands.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position based remotely. Typical hours are 8am – 5pm daily, 40+ hours per week. The ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends as needed is required.

Travel

Occasional travel is required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 2 years of experience in the government contracting or commercial industry is desired
  • 1+ year of research and analysis experience, to include:
  • Experience performing the kinds of in-depth research described above is required
  • Experience building the kinds of financial models and market evaluations described above is required
  • Proven track record gathering and analyzing large amounts of diverse information is required
  • Experience interacting with mid-level decision-makers is desired

Work Authorization

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a drug test, motor vehicle record check, and a background check after a conditional offer of employment has been accepted.
  • Must be able to travel within the Continental United States [CONUS].

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
