Job Description:
The Night Sky Photography Assistant is responsible for providing guests an enjoyable stargazing experience. They are in charge of setting up and breaking down the observation site. They are the first face that guests meet when arriving at the site, and setting expectations for the evening. They work with the Astronomy Guide to provide a seamless, unique program. The key components they oversee during the program are taking long exposure photographs, operation of telescopes, and assisting guests with viewing objects, beverages, and portraits.

Work Conditions:
Outdoor setting, able to work in a changing climate/environment. Must have experience with long exposure photography, and able to lift 50lbs. Interest in astronomy and outer space, ability to communicate with people.

Responsibilities:

• Take photographs during the tour; long exposure photographs of guests, backdrop setting/landscape, and other night sky scenes during the tour.
• Transport equipment to and from the observation site safely and efficiently.
• Prepare seating, telescopes and amenities for guests for an inviting environment to relax and be ready to learn about the night sky.
• Communicate with guests; greet on arrival and discuss expectations for the tour, facilitate informative conversations.

Qualifications:

• Experience with night time photography/long exposure photography.
• Possess excellent organization and prioritization, problem-solving skills, able to multitask.
• Flexible and can easily adapt to changes in a physical environment.
• Quick to learn new technology.
• Team-player and good communicator.

Required:

• Must have a current and valid drivers license.
• Must be independent and living in the SW Utah area.
