Job Description
Summary
Perform routine to moderate level activities of distribution operations in the performance of planned and emergency switching, issuing of Clearances and contact tags, and working with crews, troublemen, and others in providing clear and concise communications in the process. Demonstrate proficient knowledge and use of the Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) such that safety is the number one priority, with productivity, efficiency, customer service, and reliability being maximized.
Minimum Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent and three (3) years’ experience as a Senior Operator in an Operations Center or an equivalent combination of education and demonstrated experience in either Distribution or Transmission power restoration, switching and clearance procedures.
- Requires a working knowledge of Company policies and procedures, environmental regulations, Labor Agreement, APS Construction Standards, Accident Prevention Manual, OSHA standards and basic PC skills.
- Must possess good communications and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work rotating shifts on 24 hour basis.
- Ability to observe work and remain alert while working under stress and adverse conditions for extended periods of time and at irregular hours.
- Must live within reasonable distance from headquarters
- The established headquarters for this position is subject to relocation to the Hub West Service Center, a facility that will be located 38 miles west of downtown Phoenix, on a date to be determined by the Company
Major Accountabilities
- Direct and remotely operate distribution equipment, including sectionalizers, capacitors, reclosers, regulators, distribution breakers
- Outage restoration and switching on distribution circuits including those with advanced automated equipment
- Develop, issue and release clearances on distribution circuits including those with advanced automated equipment
- Primary backbone switching including breaker control (distribution voltage)(Subject to timelines for AOR transfer to DOC)
- Direct the operation of all manually and automated distribution equipment
- Work switching desk position unsupervised –Job Releases/Planned Switching
- OIS entry
- Outage restoration and switching on all distribution circuits
- Review clearances for Operator I and Operator II’s
