- High School Diploma Preferred.
- One year of Medical Phlebotomy experience preferred.
- One year of Healthcare/Hospital experience preferred.
- One year of computer/typing experience preferred.
- Accurately enters laboratory tests requested by physicians.
- Properly and accurately assigns ICD diagnosis codes according to mandated coding policy.
- Venipuncture and micro techniques are performed proficiently. All specimen requirements are met.
- All clinical specimens are labeled according to department protocol.
- Performs client drug screening.
- Provides coverage for the Specimen Accession Area as needed.
- With an understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance reimbursement, reviews patients' insurance information, advises patients, if necessary, of limitation of benefits and obtains a payment waiver if appropriate.
- Competency levels of procedures on training checklist maintained and assessed yearly by supervisor.
