Job description
Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, the primary purpose of the position of Payroll Specialist is to complete all payroll process for the company. Ensures that payroll processing and reporting is completed in a timely and accurate manner. This position processes all related payroll tax entries for employees, fringe benefit deductions and contributions and creates various reports.

Job Duties
  • Process bi-weekly payroll with minimum supervision. Ensures that amounts are properly authorized.
  • Establish and maintain company and employee payroll records, including earnings, deductions and tax withholding setup and maintenance.
  • Enters and proofs various payroll data.
  • Administer the payroll system's time and attendance process; review and completes time-entry validation and other payroll reports to verify accuracy of time-entry.
  • Calculates and enters wage assignments, garnishments, liens, levies, leave; calculates and prepares manual checks and update the payroll system with the related information; process wage adjustments, authorized reimbursements and severance payments.
  • Maintains direct deposit and other employee specific contribution and deduction criteria.
  • Prepares standard and ad hoc payroll reports and conduct review and analytics of all payroll cycles for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Ensure timely and accurate distribution of W-2 forms processing.
  • Ensure the payroll system is operating properly by maintaining database validation tables.
  • Ensure the accuracy of individual leave information and accruals in the database and validation tables.
  • Perform off-cycle payroll related transactions such as voiding checks, issuing replacement checks, preparing garnishment liens and verification of employment status.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit workpapers regarding accrued payroll related expenses and reconciliation of payroll expense between the payroll system and the general ledger.
  • Ensures proper coding regarding taxable and no-taxable fringe benefits.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES :
  • Computer literacy required in the use of a personal computer and electronic communications
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail.
  • High level of confidentiality required.
  • Knowledge of office procedures, have excellent clerical, administrative aptitude and good organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow and carry out complex oral and written instructions.
$25-$30/hr DOE
