Description: The Physical Therapists will examine, evaluate and create treatment plans for individuals with movement problems due to Spinal Cord or Nervous System injury. The Physical Therapists will conduct client evaluations and develop a plan of care using advanced treatment techniques that help promote the ability to move, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent further disability. The Physical Therapists are responsible for maintaining a safe training environment and directing the ancillary staff as needed. Physical Therapists must be willing to conduct regular training to ensure full staff compliance and that proper protocols and techniques are maintained at all times. Physical Therapists must learn all current modalities and treatments related to Spinal Cord Injury and Neurological Disorders. Every Physical Therapist must be able to independently recognize an emergent situation/distress and provide appropriate care in a timely fashion. All Physical Therapists must be First Aid/CPR/AED certified within 30 days of hire date. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Evaluate, assess, and develop care/treatment plans to evaluate muscle, nerve, joint, and functional abilities.
· Diagnose and manage movement dysfunction and enhance physical and functional abilities
· Plan and administer treatments, modalities, and exercise programs encompassing active/passive ranges of motion, muscle re-education, and functional electrical stimulation
· Restore, maintain, and promote not only optimal physical function but optimal wellness and fitness and optimal quality of life as it relates to movement and health
· Learn all current modalities, treatments, and therapies associated with Spinal Cord Injuries and Neurological Disorders
· Challenge and progress all clients in their treatment plan
· Motivate clients as necessary to achieve maximum potential in all areas of performance
· Prevent the onset, symptoms, and progression of impairments, functional limitations, and disabilities that may result from diseases, disorders, conditions, or injuries
· Maintain open and ongoing communication with the staff and delegate tasks to ancillary staff
· Customize/adapt conventional PT techniques to meet the unique needs of individual clients
· Document all client treatment notes and discuss any concerns with the Physical Therapist Assistant, Trainer, or Training Aide
· Provide comprehensive training in PT techniques to ancillary staff and family members alike
· Provide high-quality, effective, and compassionate care
· Meets the client's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining physical therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription
· Conduct client re-evaluations
· Maintain client confidentiality and protects center operations by keeping information confidential
· Develop a working knowledge of Stay in Step SCI Recovery Center to provide proper client care and instruction
· Maintain knowledge of all fitness equipment, modalities, and assistive devices
· Visually recognize and quickly respond to an emergency promptly
· Independently perform CPR if the situation requires such action
· Provide a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all clients
Job Requirements:
· Graduate of Accredited Physical Therapy Program
· Doctorate in Physical Therapy (preferred)
· Experience working with neurological and spinal cord dysfunction (preferred)
Technical Requirements:
· First Aid/CPR/AED Certification (Upon hire or within 30 days of initial employment)
· Current FL State PT License
· National Provider Identifier (NPI)
