Pricing Manager


Purpose and Scope/General Summary:
The pricing manager will be responsible for managing the position and strategic sales of the regional beef business unit’s offal programs and products. Will be responsible for $/hd contribution and improvement. Leading pricing decisions as it relates to the offal/byproducts side of the business. Must understand yields and the relationship to breakeven cost. Analysis of market situations and development of sales strategy are critical in this role.


Responsibilities:

  • Position Management
    • Maintain forward positions. Mitigate risk by negotiating forward contracts with key customers
    • Maintain spot position by setting and executing a daily sales plan to include sales target items and volumes. Provide spot market pricing direction to sales team & react to bids and market conditions quickly.
    • Facilitate competitive bidding process among sales representatives and between customers to maximize revenue.
    • Manage a close relationship with domestic and international sales teams to develop markets and customers to drive contribution
  • Product Mix Management
    • Understand yields and meat breakeven; drive value in competitive advantage
    • Make critical fresh/frozen mix decisions to maximize profit
      • Develop Fresh Offal programs and manage commitments
    • Adapt to changing production environments and utilize a deep understanding of customer hierarchy and alignment
    • Plan for mix shifts and drive the scheduling and sales teams to execute
    • Support scheduling team with production forecasting to accurately manage sales availability across frozen & fresh production
  • Drive $/hd valuation
    • Develop markets, think outside of the box to drive value
    • Understand yields and meat breakeven; here we can find and drive value in competitive advantage
  • Reporting
    • Develop and maintain appropriate reporting, ie market recaps, product availability, high to low push lists, pricelists, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 2-3 years’ experience in the beef industry with heavy emphasis on sales and pricing
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, and inventory management software preferred
  • Strong data analysis skill with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • As a salaried position with the company, you may be required to travel at some point to other facilities, to attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations. Unless otherwise specified in this posting, the amount of travel may vary and the most qualified candidate must be willing and able to travel as business needs dictate.


The applicant who fills this position will be eligible for the following compensation and benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment;
  • Paid Time Off: sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays;
  • 401(k): company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule;
  • Base salary range of $90,000-$120,000; and
  • Incentive Pay: This position is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual bonus plan, the amount of bonus varies and is subject to the standard terms and conditions of the incentive program;

This compensation range is specific to the State of Colorado and takes into account various factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to a candidate’s relevant experience, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiencies for the role.
