Summary

The Eastern Oregon University (EOU) Privileged Campus Advocate position will be employed by Shelter From the Storm (SFS), however the work space will be located at EOU for the duration of typical working hours with the exception of SFS meetings and trainings. The Privileged Campus Advocate will work with survivors and work collaboratively with the EOU Title IX program, and local community partners to ensure accessible, meaningful services for on campus survivors. The Privileged Campus Advocate will work with and train student volunteers to provide direct services, they will work together to promote events on campus that bring awareness to the on-site advocate position and promote gender based violence campaigns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide direct advocacy services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking: advocacy, peer support, safety planning, transportation, information and referrals, accompaniment to court and law enforcement interviews, protection order assistance, and emergency needs such as shelter.
• Collaborate with Title IX staff at EOU to ensure victims receive available services and resources.
• Provide information and increase awareness to EOU students and staff of Privileged Advocate on campus.
• Work with Programs Director and Executive Director to create and implement protocols and policies to track statistical information in regards to program needs.
• Facilitate the maintenance of a safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environment for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking, and their children.
• Ensure client records are kept in accordance with agency standards by completing monthly file reviews and reports.
• Provide timely response to service inquiries regarding SFS.
• Attend organization and community meetings as appropriate; meetings quarterly will require travel and overnight stays, specialized training could require overnight travel and stays out of state.
• Provide essential trainings to EOU staff, and students.
• Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director and/or EOU.

Qualifications & Skills*

• 2 years experience in social work or related field, and experience working with victims of interpersonal violence preferred.
• 40-hour State of Oregon approved domestic violence and sexual assault services training (may be completed concurrent with work);
• Must possess the ability to maintain effective working relationships with victim service agencies

• Ideal candidate will be highly organized and detail oriented, honest and strive for integrity, be creative and an innovative thinker.

• This is an ON CALL position, must be able to travel for work, and able to respond to client needs after regular hours and on weekends to assist with crisis response and holding the hotline.

• Ability to relate to and work with diverse groups of people and in crisis situations.

• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;

• Professional demeanor and ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality;

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team;

• Requires a valid Oregon Driver’s License and vehicle insurance;

• Requires travel for training quarterly.

• Knowledge of family violence, sexual assault, and stalking.

• Ability to work independently, self-motivated, take initiative and is self-directed to promote operation and organizational needs.

• Strong organizational and computer skills.

• Ability to advocate for clients.

• Cultural responsiveness; recognition of and respect for diversity.

A criminal background check will be conducted for all applicants considered for employment.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
