This is a NIGHT SHIFT POSITION- the wage will be based on experience and discussed further in an interview. This will be an hourly position + $3.00 Night Shift Differential


Description

Plant Shift Leaders will use attentive listening skills and display considerate feelings, attitudes, and opinions of others. Use critical thinking skills to continually seek plant and process improvement. Plant Shift Leads are expected to promote a safe culture by respecting the safety of themselves and of all employees; Conform to all company safety policies and ensure the crew does the same. Promote company loyalty and unity. Coaching employees to continual improvement in work performance and attitude demonstrate self-control, and respect for employees and PSC’s property. Plant Leads must be flexible and willing to work in extreme conditions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Shift pass off – Lead coming on shift should arrive well before 6:00 and should meet with the Lead coming off shift for 30 minutes, this discussion should consist of an update on how the plant is running for the day, any ongoing projects that need attention, any other items that are pertinent for the oncoming shift to be aware of.
  • Makes safety #1 priority for themselves and the crew. Ensures all PSC safety policies and procedures are followed at all times.
  • Hold daily safety discussions in relation to the workload of the shift.
  • Daily Plant Inspection – Lead should assign an employee each shift to conduct a thorough plant inspection, they should then address issues from the inspection timely. It is also expected that the Lead spot checks certain areas of the inspection depending on the changing situations to ensure that the employee is conducting a thorough inspection and not taking shortcuts. Be aware of working conditions and take corrective actions to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Leads are expected to be forward thinkers and plan the daily work for themselves and their employees. At the start of each shift Leads should develop a to-do list for each of their employees, they should use the most recent plant inspection, maintenance list, and rotex schedule when formulating this to-do list. They should also consult with a Plant Manager at the start of the shift to make sure that they have a clear picture of daily priorities.
  • Leads are required to monitor samples and data coming from the plant in order to foresee problems and make necessary changes/corrections in a timely manner.
  • Perform all Plant duties and be held accountable for product quality and plant performance.
  • Leads are expected to promote company loyalty and unity. If a concern or problem is presented to them by an employee they should bring that to their Manager. If there are concerns or problems between shifts, it is the Lead’s responsibility to communicate with the respective shift Lead and attempt to work out any issues, if this is not possible, then they should consult with the Plant Managers and/or HR in order to see that issues are rectified timely.
  • Leads are expected to train their employees in all facets of the plant and ensure that employees are adequately cross-trained in the different responsibilities of the plant.
  • Leads are expected to hold their employees accountable to company policies and procedures, and the company/supervisors' expectations of the employee. If problems arise Leads should make sure that employees are being put through the disciplinary steps. Leads should consult with a Plant Manager/Night Operations Manager/HR team member when formulating a formal disciplinary. Understand management decisions; promote company policy and goals to employees.
  • Supervisors are expected to do timely reviews of their employees with the assistance of Plant Managers and HR. (minimum of once a year.)
  • Supervisors are expected to coach their employees using the SLII program to ensure continual improvement in work performance and attitude. (Preferred monthly - minimum is quarterly)

Qualifications & Requirements

Must have the ability to:

  • Ability to be a leader
  • Good Communication Skills
  • Knowledge of Pattison Sand Company’s Policy and Procedures
  • Work in extreme conditions
  • Be flexible with schedules and help other departments.
  • Use Microsoft Excel for data entry
  • Effectively communicate and coordinate with coworkers and supervisors
  • Proficiently speak and write English
  • Stand for 6-12 hours on uneven sandy/rocky surfaces and bend or stoop
  • Work up to 12-hour shifts
  • Climb on and off equipment and ladders
  • Work at heights
  • Wear a half-mask respirator for up to 12 hours at a time
  • Lift 60 to 80 pounds without mechanical assistance
  • Work in the following conditions: Throughout the facility plant operators could work in wet, hot, sandy, greasy, dirty, and cold conditions. They may also need to work in tight enclosures or confined spaces of machines, tanks, and dryers

Education & Work Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent desired
  • Priority will be given to applicants with previous related experience

Credentials & Licenses Required

  • Part 48 MSHA required. Training available onsite
  • All Pattison employees must hold a valid Driver’s License
